Tomorrow is my PVI ablation

Tomorrow is my second AFib ablation (PVI), and while I’m feeling better than I was a few weeks ago, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous.

My first ablation was about 5 years ago and gave me several years of relief. Earlier this year I had a recurrence of paroxysmal AFib and decided to move forward with a repeat procedure. My cardiologist recently reviewed my stress test, which was normal, and told me that because I have paroxysmal AFib rather than permanent AFib, my chances of a good outcome are favorable.

Over the last couple of months I’ve made some major lifestyle changes. I’ve quit nicotine completely, remain alcohol-free, improved my sleep, reduced stimulants, and have been focusing on exercise and hydration. In many ways I feel healthier than I have in years.

I think what I’m looking for tonight is some reassurance from people who have been through an ablation, especially a second one. Did you find the anticipation was worse than the procedure itself? How was your recovery? Any advice for keeping a positive mindset going into it?

Thank you to everyone who shares their experiences. Reading this community has helped me a lot, and I appreciate any words of encouragement as I head into tomorrow.
