Small train, big station...

As someone who is very much from the north, seeing 2 coach 158s is the norm for me. What I wasn't much expecting is seeing one at London Waterloo...

Here's SWR 158 884 taking a rest at Waterloo P9, awaiting it's friends 159 013 + 159 021 to form 1L45 to Exeter St Davids via Salisbury and Yeovil Junction.

66 689 "Evening Star" passing Bedlington

Was nice to finally get another chance to go on the hugely successful Northumberland Line, even though this was decided on a conplete whim.

Thankfully the Conductor of the Northern service in the background was very keen to get away, otherwise this shot would not have happened.

The Discovery Double.

First diesel railtour ever and yeah I'm very glad I did it! Was a great experience.

Here's 37 025 "Inverness TMD" + 50 050 "Fearless" departing Stirling P6, with 1Z39 "The Discovery Double" to Polmont.

A train that's very much on borrowed time..

The 155s. They're so bad to travel on that somehow that makes them good. Can't hear yourself think and yet I love them.

A poorly CAF...

Transport for Wales 197 112 sits in the Sidings at TfW's Chester depot, in need of some TLC as it now hasn't been out on the network for 5 days.

The future...

First time seeing one of these in traffic and I'm impressed. They do look and sound like they've been dragged straight from a sci-fi movie...

GBR coming soon...

I guess it looks a tad better in person but I still think it's quite tacky.

Here's SWR (Or GBR South Western....) 701 006 standing at Reading P4 before working 2C60 to London Waterloo, 29/6/26.

Overcrowding and ticket easement

Hiya folks.

I have an Advance single for the 16:21 Cardiff - London Paddington due 18:13. This service was booked to be formed of 10 coaches but, due to a unit fault, has been short formed to 5.

I had a reservation on this service, K20, that now doesn't exist. Considering that the service was looking to be very busy with 10 coaches, it's looking very likely that I'll be unable to board it.

If I can't - what happens? Is my ticket automatically valid on the 16:50 service? Do they still have to transit me or can I be required to purchase a new ticket as the service still ran? That's the current advice I've been given and it doesn't sound entirely right...

Any help would be appreciated.

The refurbished Voyagers...

First time seeing a refurbished Voyager in the flesh!

I quite like them. Managed to take a look inside too and they're definitely an upgrade. Just a shame this one ran full from Newcastle, a new lick of paint certainly hasn't fixed that problem....

Hi everyone.

I'm 17 currently, turning 18 in just over a month. A few days ago I was informed by my parents of the balance in my Junior ISA.

As of the time I'm typing this the balance currently sits at £43,087.36. It is an incredible amount of money and I'm very greatful for it but at the same time I have absolutely no idea what to do with it.

I know that sometime in the next 7-10 years, or maybe even earlier if money allows, I would like to buy a house somewhere in suburban Newcastle but I'm really unsure how to make this amount of money work for me so I can have the biggest deposit possible.

I have a vague understanding of the different ISAs and my parents have reccomended to me a lifetime ISA. My only worry is the £4000 deposit limit per year. Based on average sale prices in the areas I've been considering, they range between £250,000 - £350,000. In theory, on a 10% deposit, I already have the required amount so I'm pretty torn between a Cash ISA and a Stocks and Shares ISA. I don't much see the point of a LISA if I don't need to save up to a deposit.

God knows what to do with the additional £23,000 that I can't deposit in an ISA of some form 😅

Any pointers in the right direction would be very much appreciated :)
