Invading

When should you invade as a jungler?

I understand the usual rule: if the enemy jungler shows on one side of the map, you can look to invade the opposite side and take camps.

But how does this apply against scaling junglers like Nasus or Master Yi? Should I be invading more aggressively to slow down or delay their scaling into the mid/late game, and if so, how do I do that without ruining my own tempo?

I saw a guide saying that level 1 cheese invades are usually bad because they are coinflip, and if you are the better jungler, they are almost never worth it. The same guide also said invading before two full clears is usually not worth it because you lose tempo and your own camps become underleveled.

Are these statements generally true, or are they more situational? How should I think about invading early against scaling junglers?

Also, let’s say I’m playing a champion like Viego. Should I still be looking to invade scaling junglers like Yi/Nasus, or is it better to just play my own game and bide my time, since Viego also scales pretty well?

Viego power spikes

How strong is Viego at each stage of the game?

I saw a Sinerias video where he showed a graph of Master Yi’s power level compared to the average jungler. For example, Yi is above average levels 1–3, much weaker around levels 4–5, gets a spike at level 6, and then has his biggest spike at 1 item.

Could someone explain Viego in a similar way? Like how strong he is levels 1–3, 4–5, level 6, first item, mid game, etc., compared to the average jungler?

Gank execution

I saw a video saying that on Viego, you should usually walk up during a gank first and save W for when they try to escape, instead of opening with it.

So when should I actually engage with W?

I also struggle to land W when the enemy is hiding behind minions or clearly trying to dodge it. Are there specific angles, timings, or setups I should be looking for?

Any general tips for executing ganks on Viego would also be appreciated, especially things like when to hold W, when to flash-W, how to path around minion waves, and how to avoid making the gank too obvious.

Pathing

If I clear top to bot, recall with 1000+ gold, but then need to go back botside for something like contesting drake, what should I do after the play? Should I recall again and reset my path to clear top to bot, or just be efficient and clear bot to top?

Also, should I be avoiding this situation entirely by planning my reset/pathing better?

Lets say I do my first recall after scuttle as my camps are coming up. I see their jungler gank bot lane. Should I:

a) skip my top camps (weakside) and go straight for their top camps. If i go with this should i go wolves then gromp or just take gromp and dip. Also if i invade should i go back to full clearing top to bot or recall and defend bot camps.

b) take the extra tempo and just full clear and look to make a play after (botside)

I got some questions about top lane. For context I am almost always pathing top to bottom because drake and I just generally find more success. So my questions are:

  1. When should I gank top (do i full clear then recall or do I skip my top camps and go straight to lane). Whenever I gank top I always feel like i lose a massive amount of tempo because i path top to bot.

  2. The crazy amount of healing and sustain makes me extremely hesitant to gank top even if they are relatively low so is it even worth my time to gank top lane. I get told constantly by the top laner to gank them because they have a bad matchup but we just end up getting 2v2 or enemy laner just walks away with their massive healing.

Thanks in advance

Im new to viego and I want to know what makes viego so strong in the right hands. So here are some questions I have:

  1. I have trouble against strong 1v1 dualists like Ambessa because I find that they want to force fights with me through invades and counter ganks. How should I play against this (what is my game plan)?

  2. What viego strengths should i play around, and what weaknesses/situations should i avoid? I’m looking for general matchup patterns, like what to do against strong early dualists, scalers, tanks, assassins, heavy-cc teams, etc, rather than just “avoid 1v1s”.

  3. Are there any good viego otps to watch on youtube? Right now im watching parryjg because his vods are very educational.
