The Way Miles Can Save His Dad

I was rewatching Across the Spiderverse and came across the scene of Gwen's dad choosing to quit the police force after she revealed that she was Spider woman. Whats interesting about this scene is that Gwen realizes that she was able to influence the "cannon" of her world through her actions and thus her father wouldn't have to succumb to the same fate as Mile's father supposedly will. As far as we know Gwen has no other police officer that shes close to so chances are "Event ASM-90" was going to happen to her dad. Being able to essentially alter the fate of his universe by choosing to trust her dad and revealing her identity has broader implications as to how the canon actually works

What we've been told by Miguels explanation of the cannon is that every major event in a Spidermans life is already predetermined. Any deviation from that will instantly begin that universes destruction as we see with Pavitars dimension after Miles saves Inspector Singh. However, in this world Pavitar is still choosing to keep his identity hidden. When Miguel causes the destruction of a whole universe, we could assume he also chose to not only hide his identity as spiderman but also his real other identity as a copy of a that universes Miguel. Whats different about Gwens circumstances is that she chose to trust her father and even if he initially planned on arresting her he chose to be by her side instead

Miles needs to have that same difficult conversation with his parents. Im not sure what their responses would be but everything indicates that they would eventually be supportive of their son and they would choose different actions then the ones that lead them to experience the terrible things that happen to Spiderman because of the cannon. It aligns with one of the main themes of this Spiderman story which is that Spiderman doesn't have to carry the burden by himself. Sure, he puts his loved ones in danger but that is a responsibility that people in his life are willing to shoulder because of their close relationships with Peter(using peter as a placeholder for any spider-person). Its also supported by the fact that we know that a team of Spiderman will be having Mile's back in the upcoming movie. Miguel serves as a good anthesis to this by carrying on this ideology that the responsibility of being Spiderman requires you to isolate yourself from people in order to carry on the responsibility that comes with the mask without hurting anyone else. The ironic part about that way of thinking is that you cannot have Spiderman without those close relationships that have a lasting impression on Peter Parker. After all, the whole Spiderman persona begins with Uncle Bens quote.

In short, by choosing to trust in people that are closest to him I think Miles is able to influence the canon to his benefit. Now how are they going to deal with Spot? Honestly no idea but I think my theory will tie in thematically with whatever solution they come up with.
