Kobeejapan's Post

A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding this announcement. KobeeJapan is suspending shipments to the U.S. because of new CPSC regulations. That doesn't automatically mean you can't personally bring Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters home from Japan.

If you travel to Japan, buy them for your own collection, and bring them back in your luggage, that's generally different from a business importing products for sale. Personal belongings brought back by travelers are usually handled under customs rules, not the same CPSC compliance process that commercial retailers have to follow.

Of course, you should still follow U.S. Customs rules (declare your purchases if required and stay within applicable allowances), but this announcement doesn't mean tourists are banned from bringing their own Sylvanians home.

So as of now: Buying them in Japan for yourself and bringing them back in your suitcase is generally fine. This notice is about commercial shipments from KobeeJapan to U.S. customers, not personal travel purchases.

(PS: I had to post it again to add some info)

What Affects the USA Might End Up Affecting You Too 🫵🏼

I've seen a lot of discussion about how the reported U.S. regulations, tariffs, and other changes could affect Calico Critters in America. Most people seem to be assuming that this is only a problem for U.S. collectors, but I'm wondering if there's another possibility that could affect all of us.

If the U.S. market requires products with fewer small parts, no loose beads, fewer removable accessories, or even fewer baby figures, Epoch has two choices: make separate versions for different regions, or redesign everything to meet the strictest requirements.

Making separate versions sounds ideal, but it's also more expensive. It means separate product designs, separate packaging, different safety testing and certifications, and more complicated manufacturing and inventory management. Depending on the costs, it might be easier for Epoch to standardize everything worldwide.

If that happened, collectors in Europe, Japan, and everywhere else could end up receiving the same simplified products as the U.S. market. That would mean losing some of the tiny details that make Sylvanian Families so special—little accessories, detailed furniture pieces, tiny food items, buttons, beads, and perhaps even baby figures in certain sets if those become more difficult to include.

Of course, we don't know what Epoch plans to do. They may decide it's worth keeping separate regional versions, especially since Sylvanian Families has such a strong collector base outside the U.S. I really hope that's the case.

I'm not trying to spread panic or claim this is definitely going to happen. I'm just surprised that I haven't seen many people discussing the possibility that these changes could eventually extend beyond the U.S. if Epoch decides that a single global product line makes more business sense.

What do you all think? Do you think Epoch will maintain separate Sylvanian Families and Calico Critters versions, or do you think they'll eventually standardize products worldwide if it becomes cheaper and easier?

Cow Family, Scam or Nah?

Guys, I need your help! I found this listing online and my daughter got interested, it was even reserved for me BUT I noticed something. The cows don't have tail and she explained that this is the old vintage version and I searched about it and it's true, however, if you pay attention to the hands you'll see that usually the old vintage versions have a different type of hand (like Lego hand) and this one looks like the new ones... Does it really come without a tail or perhaps it was removed and she's telling me that it's the 2010 version? :(

Calico Critters' Series

I'm looking for a Calico Critters series (or episodes) on YouTube to watch, but I'd like something in the style of the ones I shared in the picture. I'm not really looking for the CGI version of Calico Critters that's available on YouTube, I'm more interested in original, fan-made videos, if you know what I mean. 😂

Thank you all for the recommendation! ✨

Photo Day (clay pieces) 📸✨🍪

I just wanted to show off my clay art 😂, so I asked the biscuit bear family to help me with it! 🍰 Tell me what you think!

I have some sets to open when I move to Germany in September, and I'll put most of these little cakes in my Cake Shop set. 🤗 The Cake Shop is already complete, but I still love making tiny food anyway. 😂

My boyfriend told me to make a salad bowl 🥗 for my Hamburger set. I'll make it later and share it here!

---

Vou fazer e mostrar aqui! 🤗

Help to Choose ☀️

Hello friends! 💕

I need your help with a decision. Recently, I came across the Country Market (mint version), and the seller said she'd sell it to me for €40 + €7.49 shipping (second pic).

Here's the thing: my boyfriend was planning to gift me some Calico Critters that I picked out from the KobeeJapan online store (first pic). I love all of them, and now I have no idea what to choose anymore 😭

Also, I have no idea how incomplete the market set is. ChatGPT told me that €47 for an incomplete market might be a bit expensive. I'm waiting for the seller's reply because I asked for a photo of all the pieces laid out. I don't mind if it's missing a few items, though.

What would you do in my situation? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🥹💕

Handmade Sylvanian Food 🥐

Just wanted to share these little cute foods I made for Sylvanian Families 🥹🥐

It fits PERFECTLY my Sylvanian collection. I will make sets of 4, like I still need to make one more ice cream pot, pizza, etc.

It might look big in the picture but the size was perfect for them ✨👌🏻
