Flights got cancelled - no notice

Hi, I had a flight to Madrid on May 19th and was gonna do a multi-city trip to celebrate my birthday, so I also had a return flight on June 2nd with Level, which I booked all on Iberia back in January. Last night, I was curious about which seats I chose for my outbound flight when I saw my return flight was cancelled. Never got an email or some kind of notice about it. They gave me two options: to get a full refund or ticket voucher. Considering it was 3 AM and I was in a panic, I did the refund. I only realized later on that it meant my departing flight would be cancelled as well.

I called Iberia and to be fair, the customer service reps were really nice and they created a case to request a reinstatement for my flight, though it wasn’t guaranteed. I broke down crying out of stress as I looked at last minute flights with CRAZY prices. I slept at 4 AM, then woke up at 9 to book flights. Ended up getting replacement flights but spent $800 more. I am so stressed out about it but I really wanted to go on this trip - I’ve already booked accommodations and attractions and made plans with friends who live in Spain.

Just wondering if anyone’s ever experienced this with Iberia or any other airline. I know with the jet fuel crisis, cancellations have been on the rise and I should’ve maybe researched travel insurance. But I’m thinking of asking Iberia for compensation because of the inconvenience. I’m so anxious about how the rest of the trip is gonna turn out bc of this.

Feeling nervous about solo trip

Hi! I’m 25 y/o and I’ve done a study abroad program in Berlin 2 years ago and a few solo trips to Prague, Paris, and Boston, but the most I’ve done solo is 4 days. I’m going to Spain for 2 weeks to celebrate my bday but just nervous about a couple things:

• Never been solo for more than 4 days so this 2 week duration is new to me
• Logistics of traveling alone by train/bus/plane every 3 days since I’m moving through 4 cities (I kinda regret that now 😭)
• Safety concerns. I’ve only stayed at hostels in Prague and Boston, and even then they were female-only. I’m staying at social hostels for a change and also bc I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, but I’ve heard horror stories as well from my friends so I’m just a bit more wary. Also a bit nervous about how tiring it might be lugging my luggage around to get from city to city alone, worrying about pickpockets etc tho I do already have an anti-theft bag.
• Celebrating my bday alone. I was so excited when I booked this trip as an escape from work and routine life, but now I can already feel myself getting homesick and wishing I could celebrate with my family and friends. But I’ve also celebrated my bday on a flight to Berlin alone lol so I’m sure it’ll be ok. I just think next year I’ll stay put for my bday lol.

Maybe I’m also just catastrophizing bc of pre-trip jitters lol. I wonder if any solo female travelers have done similar itineraries in Spain and if you have any advice for me! :)

Itinerary review - Spain

Hi! I’m 25 yrs old female solo traveling to Spain for 2 weeks to celebrate my bday. I decided to go to Madrid, Seville, Granada, then Barcelona - I am now kind of regretting doing that bc the logistics and travel every 3 days are intimidating me, but I wonder if anyone else has done a similar itinerary and made it out fine!

Here’s a list of things I plan to do:

Madrid - 3 nights
• Stay at friend’s house
• Visit Royal Palace
• El Retiro park
• Other spontaneous activities with friend

Seville - 3 days (travel by train)
• Join hostel activities (walking tour, flamenco, rooftop concert)
• Visit Seville Cathedral and Real Alcaraz

Granada - 3 nights (travel by bus)
• Join hostel activities again (walking tour, flamenco, rooftop concert)
• Visit Alhambra and Mirador de San Nicolas
• Maybe roam around Sacromonte/Albaicin? Any recs would be appreciated!

Barcelona - 4 nights (travel by plane)
• Stay at a hotel
• I’ll be spending my bday here! Please let me know any ideas for what to do on my actual bday — so far I only have Park Guell planned
• Visit La Sagrada
• Possibly Barceloneta beach and Gracia
• Paella cooking class on my last day

I’ve gotten tickets to almost all the attractions I listed since I know they sell out early.

62 yr old dad got full mouth extraction and immediate dentures two days ago. He has ice packs, ibuprofen/tylenol, antibiotics, and all the soft foods. I want to get him something to make him feel better since he's been really stressed out with his dental office. He said that the extraction didn't go as smoothly as hoped, saying the surgeons/dentists dug into his mouth and were not as gentle. They finished the procedure with him still bleeding, and they didn't even clean his mouth afterwards. They're horrible.

Anyways what gifts would you have wanted to get after your extraction?

Hi, my 62 yr old dad is getting all his teeth extracted next week and is feeling really anxious about it, more so about how self-conscious he might feel with dentures and not being able to eat all the foods he loves. He has stage 4 grade C periodontitis so it's gotten really bad, and we were advised by both his dentist and periodontist to get full dentures since it's fully covered by Medi-cal and the disease has impacted all his teeth.

I have a few questions for anyone who has had similar experiences, since I don't know much about periodontitis:

- Are there any bad effects or implications with getting all teeth extracted?

- Are full dentures the only solution at this point, and how's your experience with using them?

Thank you so much!
