If I open a personal account with a broker, how can I start earning money?

Like, is there a strategy everybody follows? Or you pray that your niche stock will rise, cause that's what I'm doing now and I made maybe 10$ of that way.

So I'm wondering who you guys make it through to become a day trader?

I have been wanting to trade more seriously and that is where I first heard about Brokers don't really know what it means, but it seems really important to trade seriously. 
Can someone explain what a broker is, and maybe recommend one or two

I've been trading for a while, and it seems I'm only losing money. I feel so dumb, is trading in forex for genius or something?
