Its been a while but I'm still not over it

So, back when the Pink Pony Club SNL performance first dropped, the lyrics in the captions they provided were terribly wrong. I hadn't actually looked at its lyrics before then, so I thought they were right, and it completely changed Pink Pony Club for me. Instead of "I'm gonna keep on dancing" it said "How many keep on dancing".

It's such a small change, but it flips the meaning of the entire song. Instead of a celebration of being a dancer at the pink pony club, the pink pony club is now a metaphor for gender roles and cishet values. How many keep on dancing at the pink pony club = how many keep staying in the closet and enjoy it.

Idk, it's such an interesting message change from somebody at SNL mishearing the lyrics and i feel like NOBODY has talked about it unless I just haven't scoured the internet enough 😭

Where were you when you first listened to Imaginal Disk or Mercurial World?

(hell, even the mini mixes and day/night pop)

Personally, I was cleaning my bathroom and had it on at max volume to see what all the hype was about this “Imagine disk” thing.

I unfortunately didn’t see the hype at first, but then I kept coming back to each individual song. Every week would be a new era based on what song I turned up on repeat until eventually I was addicted.

(and P. S. the second time was on a bus driving up to Quebec at EARLY hours. I cried to every song during that tired, cold morning. Nothing will beat the feeling of listening to the full album on YouTube)
