W about pay grades

If an internal candidate interviewed for two different roles that were genuinely scoped at different levels — for example, one at P3 and another at P4/P5 — and ended up receiving offers for both, how would compensation typically be handled? Assuming both positions have been applied for and are not lateral moves.

I completely understand there wouldn’t be an internal “bidding war” between the two teams, but would you normally expect the offers to reflect the different grade and scope of each position, or could they potentially end up being offered at roughly the same salary because it’s the same internal candidate?

Just curious how that generally works in practice.

Can you jump from P2 to P5 for an internal role?

I know the typical answer is probably “no,” but curious if anyone has actually seen this happen.
I’m currently a P2 and applied for an internally advertised P5 role. My current level was fully disclosed, and I’ve still been selected to interview for the position.
If I end up being the preferred candidate, how does RTX typically handle that kind of level difference? Is it possible to be hired directly into the P5, or would they be more likely to offer the role at a lower grade (P3/P4)?
For anyone who has been in a similar situation, any advice on how to approach the level/compensation conversation if I get that far? I don’t want to undersell myself just because I’m currently a P2 if they believe I’m qualified to do the P5 job.
