[HAUL] Some recent jackets and boots that arrived this week

Just got these in over the last few days. Finally laid them all out together and matched them with some trousers I already had.

The color palette is a bit all over the place (from pale pink to dark burgundy), but I kinda like the variety.

Highlights:

  • The greyish/brown button-up with the textured patch pocket is definitely my favorite. Looks great with those pleated dark trousers.
  • That white shirt with the subtle floral embroidery is way better in person.
  • Picked up a few suede and leather Chelsea boots to go with them. The dark red (burgundy) ones are a nice change from all the brown and black I usually wear.

Everything fits pretty boxy/oversized, which is exactly what I was going for. Has anyone else been grabbing similar outerwear recently? Let me know your thoughts!

Which "Old Money" style outfit do you prefer?

Pairing a knit top with linen trousers offers comfort and breathability,

while exuding an air of understated luxury that a standard T-shirt simply cannot match.

[HAUL] Packages finally showed up... definitely went a little overboard this time 😅

Been collecting these over the past few weeks and finally had everything arrive around the same time. Didn't even realize how many tees I ordered until I laid them all out.

A few that stood out right away:

  • Black polo with the oversized pony logo. Simple, easy to wear, and probably the first one I'll end up reaching for.
  • White record graphic tee. Nice heavyweight feel and a relaxed fit.
  • White Levi's back-print tee. The oversized graphic on the back is way bigger than I expected, which I actually like.
  • Vans Shibuya tee. Clean front, fun graphic on the back—can't really go wrong with an all-black tee.
  • Sport-style white tee. Definitely has that oversized, athletic look I've been into lately.
  • White knight graphic tee. One of the cleaner graphic tees from the haul.
  • Black embroidered polo. The little embroidered details make it a bit more interesting without being over the top.
  • White bear tee. Probably the most casual piece here. Easy summer throw-on.
  • Statue graphic tee. Gives off that classic streetwear vibe and should pair well with almost anything.
  • Black bootcut jeans. Been looking for a slimmer pair with a slight flare, so hopefully these fit the way I'm expecting.

No crazy pickups this time—mostly just everyday stuff that should get a lot of wear over the summer.

Now I just need to figure out where I'm supposed to put all of this because my closet is officially running out of space.

Picked up a few pieces recently that finally fit the look I was going for (+ looking for dog clothing recommendations)

I've been trying to simplify my wardrobe lately and move toward a cleaner, more understated style. After buying a lot of clothes that didn't really work for me, these are probably the first few pieces I've been genuinely happy with.

  • A navy knit polo that has enough structure to look polished without feeling too formal.
  • A pair of light-wash jeans with a relaxed, slightly wider fit that drapes really well.
  • A simple black leather belt that ties everything together without drawing too much attention.
  • Brown suede loafers that have been surprisingly comfortable for everyday walking.

Nothing here is flashy, but I like how everything works together. It's the kind of outfit that feels easy to wear while still looking put together.

One unexpected challenge has been finding clothes for my dachshund. Because of the long body and short legs, most pet clothes either fit awkwardly or don't seem very comfortable.

I'd love to find brands with simple, well-made designs—nothing overly colorful or covered in graphics, just clean, quality basics that fit dachshunds well.

Curious what everyone's best clothing purchase has been recently. Also, if you've found any great dog clothing brands, I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Built this interactive cell so my students stop falling asleep in biology

This was my first time trying to vibe code a project. I wanted to make something my middle school students would actually want to play with, so I built this interactive 2D cell model.

I kept the biology simple on purpose. When students are just getting started, too many labels and tiny details can turn the whole thing into a textbook diagram fast, and that was exactly what I did not want.

The build went smoother than I expected. I started with a sci-fi radar look: neon green on black. Then I asked for a three-column layout, with the controls on the left, the cell in the middle, and the info panel on the right.

For the interaction, I told the AI that when you click an organelle, it should glow brighter while the rest of the cell fades back a bit. It even handled smooth transitions, which saved me from a lot of fiddling.

I’m happy with where it ended up. I’m going to show it to my students next class and see whether they actually want to play with it, which is the real test.

[Recent Pickups] Summer Streetwear Rotation

Picked up a few tees and denim pieces for summer.

Mostly loose fits, washed colors, simple graphics, and easy pieces to wear with sneakers or a cap.

My favorites so far are the blue graphic tee with dark denim, the washed grey tee with skate shoes, and the black striped Henley with loose black pants.

Which piece is your favorite? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

[Recent Pickups] A Few Modern East-Asian Inspired Shirts I’ve Been Into

Picked up a few shirts recently with asymmetrical cuts, layered details, textured fabrics, and slightly more experimental shapes than what I usually wear.

They all have a modern feel rather than looking like traditional costume pieces, but there are still some details inspired by stand collars, frog-button closures, textured jacquard fabrics, and relaxed silhouettes.

A few favorites from the group:

  • off-white short-sleeve shirt with an asymmetrical front, stand collar, and dark metal-style closure details.
  • deep burgundy shirt with a textured dark panel and wavy stitched construction across the front.
  • black layered-look shirt with a grey inner panel built into the design, so it looks like two pieces without actually wearing two layers.
  • dark brown long-sleeve shirt with a western-style horse graphic, which is probably the most unexpected piece here.
  • minimal black stand-collar shirt with subtle pleats and curved paneling.
  • heather grey polo with contrasting collar details and a layered inner fabric panel.

Most of them work with simple dark trousers or loose black pants, so I have been keeping the rest of the outfit pretty plain.

Which one would you be most likely to wear: the asymmetrical off-white shirt, the burgundy textured one, the layered black shirt, or the grey polo?

Marketing student here, never touched web design before

Applying for internships at architecture firms and figured a sample site in my portfolio couldn't hurt.

I researched their visual identity, went with a dark palette, gold highlights, kept everything sparse. Also added bilingual since they have international clients. I've took a few tries to feel natural instead of like a bolted-on translation button. No clue if I got it right.

I would love some feedback before I submit this. Is this something they would actually use?

Vibe coding UI blind test: I gave 6 zero-code builders the same prompt to see which one is more well designed

Everyone's hyping their favorite AI. But the brand always mentioned in discussion may have an advantage there. When you recognize a big name's output, you give it a pass in your mind (at least sometimes i do).

So I want to run a blind UI taste test. Use the same prompt to test six different tools. The lineup covers several vibe coding apps getting mentioned around in the discussion.

The prompt: Make me a simple expense tracking page. I just want a huge input box to type how much I spent, and a few quick buttons to tag it. Below that, I need a button on which i click and bounce a visual breakdown of my monthly spending. Make it a clean, dark-mode design that looks expensive, and it needs to feel satisfying and smooth when I hit add.

Screenshots are labeled Tool A to E. Have a look and drop your votes, guesses, and roasts

📦 Recent Pickups | Everything finally arrived

A few recent arrivals that have already made it into my weekly rotation.

  • Leather shoes: Comfortable from day one and easy to style.
  • Dark brown shoulder bag: Versatile color, works with almost everything.
  • Leather belt: Clean design with a nice, solid feel.
  • Cap: Simple, easy to throw on every day.
  • Striped shirt: Lightweight and effortless.
  • Khaki trousers: Relaxed fit that pairs with almost anything.

Nothing flashy—just pieces I'll probably keep wearing for a long time.

Which one would you pick first?

[QC] $3.05 Apple AirPods Pro? Had to GP out of pure curiosity

Saw a pair of "Apple AirPods Pro" listed for just $3.05. Couldn't believe a literal cup of coffee buys a fully packaged pair of earbuds with inline controls, so I went ahead and copped them. They just hit the warehouse.

Zegna Fabric Book Deep Dive — Why People Who Understand Fabrics Always Respect Zegna

I finally got some time to properly go through a Zegna fabric book this week, and honestly, it reminded me why so many tailors and menswear nerds rate Zegna so highly. Not just because it’s luxury, but because they genuinely obsess over fabric engineering.

A lot of people only look at branding when buying tailoring. But once you start paying attention to fabric composition, yarn twist, drape, texture, recovery, and how cloth reacts under different lighting, you realize why certain fabrics just feel expensive even before you see the label.

Here are some thoughts after spending time with the swatches.

1. The Raw Materials Are Already On Another Level

One thing that separates Zegna from many mills is vertical control. They’ve invested heavily into sourcing and wool production, which means they have much tighter quality consistency from the very beginning.

A lot of these fabrics use extremely fine wool fibers. Up close, the yarn looks smoother and more uniform than what you typically see on lower-tier suiting cloths. The result is pretty obvious in person:

  • cleaner surface texture
  • softer handfeel
  • natural sheen instead of “shiny polyester glow”
  • elegant drape without looking lifeless

Some of the swatches honestly felt closer to cashmere than traditional wool.

2. The Fabric Engineering Is Crazy Good

This is probably the part that impressed me the most.

High-Twist Wool = Tailoring That Actually Survives Real Life

Zegna’s high-twist fabrics have that crisp, dry handfeel that makes suits hold shape beautifully. The cloth stays structured without feeling cardboard-like.

You can literally stuff a jacket into luggage, pull it out later, and it still looks presentable. That’s why a lot of frequent business travelers love these fabrics.

Some of the double-twist constructions also have this subtle granular texture that gives the fabric more visual depth. The cloth drapes naturally while still keeping strong shape retention.

It’s one of those things photos don’t fully capture until you see it in motion.

3. Their Color Work Is Subtle But Expensive-Looking

This sounds weird unless you’re into fabrics, but good mills dye colors differently.

The navy and charcoal swatches especially stood out to me. Under different lighting, the fabric shifts slightly in tone and sheen without becoming flashy.

That’s the kind of “quiet luxury” effect cheap fabrics fail to replicate. Lower-quality cloth often looks flat or overly glossy, while better fabrics have depth and movement.

Zegna seems extremely good at this balance.

4. Some Standout Fabric Lines

TROFEO

Probably one of the easiest luxury suiting fabrics to wear regularly.

  • soft
  • durable
  • wrinkle resistant
  • elegant drape
  • works for both office and formal settings

It feels luxurious without being overly delicate.

TRAVELLER

Makes a ton of sense for people constantly flying or commuting.

  • lightweight
  • breathable
  • crease resistant
  • practical for long wear

This is the type of cloth that still looks clean after an entire day of meetings.

5. The Blend Options Are Seriously Underrated

The fabric book had some really good seasonal blends too.

Wool + Silk

Keeps the structure of wool but adds a softer, richer surface reflection. Looks incredibly refined under natural lighting.

Linen Blends

Perfect for relaxed tailoring.

The texture feels airy and natural without becoming sloppy. Great for soft jackets, summer tailoring, or more casual menswear fits.

6. The Small Details Are What Make Fabric Addictive

This is where fabric books become dangerous for menswear enthusiasts lol.

Different swatches completely change the mood of a garment:

  • herringbone textures
  • shadow stripes
  • tonal checks
  • heavier winter weights
  • soft flowing summer cloths

You start realizing tailoring isn’t just “black suit vs navy suit.” Fabric completely changes the personality of the piece.

A heavier dark wool instantly gives strong business energy.

Meanwhile linen blends and textured fabrics feel much more relaxed and effortless.

Final Thoughts

The older I get, the more I understand why experienced tailors care more about fabric than branding.

Good fabric changes:

  • how clothing drapes
  • how it ages
  • how comfortable it feels
  • how light interacts with it
  • how confident you feel wearing it

Zegna isn’t just selling “luxury.” They’re selling decades of textile development packed into every meter of fabric.

And honestly, once you handle enough good cloth, it becomes very hard to go back.

Bro got the entire polo team on his chest

Nah because what is this logo 💀

Regular polos got one guy on a horse.
This one got a whole cavalry battle happening on the chest.

At this point it’s not Ralph Lauren anymore, it’s:

  • Ralph Medieval
  • Polo: Total War Edition
  • 4v4 Ranked Match Embroidery
  • Bro bought the Limited Edition Boss Fight Logo

The funniest part is the embroidery actually looks high quality too 😭
They really said “make the logo bigger” and the factory misunderstood the assignment completely.

10/10 confidence piece though. Nobody’s gonna legit check something this fearless.

I snagged a bunch of Arc'teryx t-shirts!

On New Arrivals Day at the stores, there were all sorts of new t-shirts. I've had trouble getting the sizing right before when buying online.

latest one with the big bird on the back is the Envoy Grand Wall. The color scheme is very sophisticated, and the size is huge—the bird is big too!

The Cormac logo SS was released last year, but this year's cut and fabric are different. This year's is better looking and more comfortable, and the sizing runs large.

I think the Envoy with the logo on the chest has a weird sizing. It's slimmer than the one with the logo on the back, but it's also very long, so I'll pass.

green bird logo one has a captivating color, and the sizing is nice, though a little large.

In short, I'm completely powerless against quick-drying fabrics this year.

[REVIEW] Loro Piana Mediterranean Blue Linen Shirt — Love at First Sight or Rep Flop?

Upgraded my summer rotation with some serious resort-wear vibes. Just unboxed this Loro Piana linen shirt, and honestly, color alone makes me feel like I should be on a yacht in Amalfi.

Instead of a boring wall of text, here is my quick Hit or Miss breakdown from a user's perspective:

🟢 Hits (What I Love)

  • Fabric Feel: Usually, cheap linen feels like wearing sandpaper, but this stuff is surprisingly soft and breathable right out of box. Zero itchiness.
  • Texture: Up close, weave has that gorgeous, irregular "slub" texture. It looks incredibly high-end and expensive.
  • Details: Buttons are perfectly color-matched to blue fabric, and stitching around cuffs and cutaway collar is super neat.
  • Aesthetic: Paired with some cream trousers or shorts, it gives off that effortless, quiet luxury vibe perfectly.

🔴 Misses (Flaws)

  • Wrinkle Factor: Because it’s pure linen, it wrinkles instantly. It arrived looking like a crumpled paper bag, so keeping a steamer nearby is mandatory.
  • Fit Check: Cut through shoulders and chest is a bit more tailored/slim than expected. If you want that relaxed, flowy summer look, definitely size up once.

💬 Final Verdict

Total Hit. Minor sizing and wrinkle issues are just standard for linen anyway. For price, material quality and that deep blue color are an absolute steal.

Ralph Lauren Linen Shirt - The "Can't Sleep Until I Buy It" Edition

My urge to buy linen recently reached an all-time high. I’ve tried so many brands, but I always come back to Ralph Lauren; the hand-feel and softness are truly in a league of their own. Plus, the adult sizes really are softer and more comfortable than the kids' sizes.

When will I learn to resist the urge to buy things I want? Why is it that I can only get a good night's sleep after I’ve actually bought the item? [Sobbing]

Need a quick QC before I ship this out. Is it a GL or RL?

  • Material: Texture looks solid, good linen weave density.
  • Pony: Embroidery seems neat. Mallet is straight, rider is distinct.
  • Stitching: Placket lines look clean.

Let me know what you guys think!
