If one was to quit their job or get fired- what happens?

Are you blacklisted if you quit?

Do you get employment benefits to live off until you find a new job? If yes, how much do you get?

Also, is it hard to find a job in China?

I’m in a bittersweet fickle here

I just joined a new job - fully remote - company is based in Quebec and I’m in Ontario.

I was laid off before and I got this job. I needed to move out to provide space for my kid and for us as well - my wife and I. We rented out a house for 3000 roughly with utilities included.

I just got my first pay and it deducted Quebec taxes which is higher than Ontario.

I was making 83000 a year in Ontario and my take home was 5200 roughly. Paid semi monthly.

This company is paying me $90000 and i get paid biweekly.

I asked my company if a mistake was done etc and i was told that all employees in Canada are taxed on QC code and it will be adjusted when its tax season.

So a couple of questions:

  1. is this normal?
  2. anything can be done about this? Company told me that’s how it is
3)I know my tax refund would be higher than default so I wouldn’t put any savings until that season because that’s a lot

Views on Pakistan and Pakistanis?

Just curious as someone from that descent.

Fun fact is that in the 70s/80s, the Pakistani authorities called Japanese experts to build out a subway system in Karachi (financial hub of Pakistan) and was told that it was impossible due to lack of established infrastructure and the way the sewage and pipelines were mad…simply poor city planning.

Also, have you tried any Pakistani food? If yes, what are your favourites?

What was the Sega Dreamcast launch like in Japan?

Would like to know if anyone can share their experience especially the beginning and demise of Sega as a console manufacturer.

Thanks!

Why is work culture so brutal?

I saw many videos online about Japanese work culture.

Waking up super early in the morning and commuting long hours just to work 8-10 hours…and then you have to make sure your boss leaves first before you do.

If you reject drinking with your boss, it’s frowned upon and will jeopardize your position.

If you miss your last train of the day, you have to sleep on the street or some temporary place which basically means you hardly see your own home.

would like to see if someone can confirm this if this is an actual reality.
