Racism in China, is this a real thing?
Hi, I am a Japanese student who recently got his first account on BiliBili. I was troubled by the usage of racist terms on that platform. Is this kind of racist speech common in China?

I am curious how much locals get paid in China? So tell me your Salary, job title and age.
I am visiting China and it’s almost always so at night even when I turn off my VPN… Me and my wife even try to stream movies from Chinese websites and it’s always buffering at night too.
The ones they sell in Chinese convenience stores all seem to be the same size.
I like to understand a situation before I’m in it. I’ve done my own research, but as far as understanding the current social climate, it’s hard to gain much knowledge.
So, what is expected when a white American woman comes to work in China?
What stereotypes could be helpful for me to be aware of? What positive or negative expectations might there be?
What are some small ways I can show respect and humility?
Any random, weird advice?
Could immigration from North Korea and Myanmar to China be a temporary solution until a permanent solution to solve the population stagnation? These two countries don't seem to have political problems with China or irredentist claims and that way a decline like Japan won't happen where people call them racist on top of that.
When I first arrived in China, some friends who had been living there before me told me that in public saunas and outdoor hot baths, everyone had to be completely naked. Men would stand, talk, and relax together without clothes, and nobody felt uncomfortable about it.
At first, I did not believe them. I thought they were joking or trying to scare me.
After some time, I joined a gym that had a swimming pool. One day after my workout, I decided to check out the pool area. Between the gym and the pool, there was a changing and shower area. As soon as I entered, I saw many people completely naked, casually standing, showering, and talking to each other like it was the most normal thing in the world.
I was shocked. I immediately turned around and ran away. After that, I avoided that area completely.
But after living in China for four or five years, I slowly understood that this was simply part of the culture there. People do not see it as strange or embarrassing. Even in the gym I go to now, the shower area is completely open, and everyone showers comfortably without clothes. For them, it is natural and normal.
This experience taught me that different cultures have different ideas of comfort and privacy, and sometimes it just takes time to understand them.
“Has anyone else experienced culture shock in China because of the completely naked public sauna and shower culture? What was your first reaction?”
I'm curious what the dating scene is like around Yunnan for people in their thirties? In the US a lot of people in this age group are unmarried and have no kids. Is that true in China? Are there many hobbies, like sports clubs, where I could meet people?
Are Chinese men around my age generally more traditional? What is their cohort known for, what are the general goals of men this age? Because Yunnan has a variety of ethnicities, is the view of interracial dating quite open and normalized?
Additional question: Any ordinary China folks are having issues with massive datacenter being an issue in their environment?
Hi all.
A friend recommended the app Red Note or Xiaohongshu to me and I was browsing it for a bit. There was makeup, travel, life style, anything you can find on it.
But then something caught my attention. I notice that there were also quite a few posts showing images and videos of Russian and European men. They often depicted these men in a very idyllic way. Comments had the translate function and may Chinese women seem to praise the appearance of Russian and European men highly.
I saw comments like “My eyes are blessed”, “Even if blooming period is short, better than no blooming period”, “If only China had handsome men”, “their beauty is incomparable”, “3 dimensional features always win”, “we’re eating good”, “If we need foreigners, no Africans, it’s better to have Russians. More beautiful and handsome”.
Some variation of those comments.
A Russian car model seems to be extremely popular.
Do Chinese women think that the white European are the epitome of male beauty? Can the beauty of Chinese men compare? Why is there such an obsession with the “3 dimensional features”?
Do Chinese women think European features are superior to Asian features?
Hey, Im looking for Chinese friends ,preferably into learning languages and improving them
Learning Mandarin with Pimleur. Each lesson has a random picture. For the last 25 mins ive been looking at these weird things. What are they and where are they?
I just got a moka pot from my friend and i dunno what kind of coffee bean to get. Can you help me out? Do i go with luckin or Starbucks? Or is there hidden gem? Please and thank you.
I just found out my dad is heading to Shenzhen for work, he's literally in the airport now and spending two days there. Is there a convenient way/place I can ask him to pick up Cdrama merch (specifically Liu Yuning's merchandise)? I live in the US and have no hope of going to China anytime in the near future, he lives in Dubai but I know my uncle will be coming to visit here next month so am really hoping I can get my hands on some items that you can only get in China 🙏
I want to know if this sentiment is true. There was a shorts feed that claimed that Chinese think that Koreans claim Confucius was Korean.
I can assure you that 99.9%+ people in Korea believe Confucius is Chinese. If you exclude crazy conspiracy people (whom exists everywhere), people know that Confucius is Chinese
Saw a post in the Vietnam sub where it seems 70/30 are supportive of the boat bringing a minute amount of supplies to palestin - just got me wondering what people in China would think/do
Theres a young westernised Vietnamese girl on the boat. They breached Israeli waters and were dealt with routinely. Now they are crying about abuse/mistreatment etc because they invaded a warzone. Government is stuck in a hard spot whether or not to provide aid.
I didn't think East Asians gave a shit abt the middle east, but it seems liberal virtue signalling behaviour has infiltrated Vietnam of all places. Happily no Chinese person seems as deluded to travel there
How do the people of China feel about the conflicts in the middle east?
