Optimal G-SYNC settings for a 500Hz monitor in CS2? G-SYNC/VSYNC/Reflex/FPS cap confusion

I recently upgraded to a 500Hz MSI MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 (1440p 500Hz) and I'm trying to figure out the optimal settings specifically for CS2.

I used to play on an old 144Hz monitor without G-SYNC, so I've never really used VRR seriously.

I've seen a lot of conflicting information recently:

Setup A:

G-SYNC ON

NVCP V-SYNC ON

In-game V-SYNC OFF

Reflex ON / ON + Boost

fps_max 0

Let Reflex handle the FPS limit

Setup B:

G-SYNC OFF

V-SYNC OFF

Reflex ON

fps_max 0

Completely uncapped

Setup C:

G-SYNC ON

V-SYNC ON

Reflex ON

NVCP FPS cap slightly below refresh rate (around 439 FPS for 500Hz)

I've also seen people recommend NVCP Low Latency Mode = Ultra when Reflex isn't available, while others say Reflex replaces/overrides Low Latency Mode.

So I'm wondering:

For a 500Hz monitor specifically, what is currently the lowest-latency setup for CS2?

If I use G-SYNC, should I leave fps_max 0 and let Reflex cap automatically, or manually cap around 439–495 FPS?

Is an NVCP FPS cap preferable to the in-game fps_max limiter in CS2?

For a 500Hz OLED, should Response Time / Overdrive = Faster be used, or is there a better setting?

If anyone has tested these configurations with a 9800X3D + NVIDIA GPU + 500Hz display, I'd especially like to hear your results.

I'm mainly interested in measurable latency/frame-time differences, not just "it feels better."

Thanks!

Is this gap around the glass side panel normal? -Flux Pro-

Hi everyone, I just noticed that there’s a slight gap around the bottom edge of my case’s glass side panel. The panel seems to be properly installed and doesn’t move or rattle, but the gap is still visible.

Is this normal for this case, or is the glass panel not seated correctly?

HAVN BF 360 Flow vs Lian Li LANCOOL 217 (9800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti + Arctic LF III Pro 360)

I'm building a new gaming PC and I'm stuck between two cases:

  • HAVN BF 360 Flow
  • Lian Li LANCOOL 217

My build:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WiFi
  • GPU: RTX 5070 Ti
  • RAM: ADATA XPG Lancer Blade 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 EXPO
  • SSD: WD Black SN850X 1TB
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 (CP-9020271-EU)

my priorities are:

  1. Best airflow
  2. Lowest CPU/GPU temperatures
  3. Quiet operation
  4. Easy cable management
  5. Easy installation (especially with the thick Arctic LF III Pro 360 radiator)
  6. Long-term build quality

I don't really care about RGB or aesthetics. Performance, cooling, and build quality matter much more to me.

I've seen reviews from Gamers Nexus showing both cases performing extremely well, but I've also heard that the LANCOOL 217's offset top radiator mount makes installing the Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro much easier because of its unusually thick radiator.

For those who have owned or built in either (or both) cases:

  • Which one would you choose and why?
  • Does the HAVN BF 360 have any clearance issues with the Arctic LF III Pro 360?
  • Is the BF 360 worth choosing over the LANCOOL 217 if they're the same price?
  • Which case would you personally buy for this exact build?

I'd really appreciate opinions from people with first-hand experience.

Thanks!

Which DDR5 RAM should I pick?

Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2x16) 6000 MHz CL30 PVV532G600C30K

XPG Lancer RGB 32 GB (2X16) 6000 MHz CL30 AX5U6000C3016G-DCLARBK

Kingston Beast Black Expo 16 GB (2x8) 6000 MHz CL30 KF560C30BBEK2

GSKILL 32GB (2x16GB) TRIDENT Z5 NEO RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 1.35V

G.SKILL is a bit more expensive than the others. My motherboard is the MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WiFi, and my CPU is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I'm buying the RAM primarily for gaming. Based on my system, which RAM would you recommend for the best performance? You can also suggest options other than the ones I listed.

SERIOUS question for you cheaters

Having played CS since the early 2000s, I have never seen the game in such a dire state. Sure, there have always been cheaters, but it has never been this pathetic.

To those of you cheating: you are nothing but pathetic. Back in the day, we didn't have aim trainers, workshop maps, KovaaK's, or Aimlabs. You have all these tools today to actually improve, yet you choose not to and cheat instead.

Some of you might try to justify it by saying, "There are so many cheaters, that's why I cheat." That's a joke. As a skilled player, I've had people call me a cheater in the very first round, only to start toggling in the second round and typing "hvh" in chat. It's laughable.

Does every decent player have to be forced into playing exclusively on Faceit? Is it a crime to want to play MM, Premier, or even Wingman?

Let me be clear: being bad at this game is 100 times more honorable than cheating. I genuinely want to understand your mentality why do you actually do this? Don't give me the "it's for fun" excuse; there is nothing fun about getting kills you didn't earn.

I've had 56-kill matches without cheats, and there is no substitute for the satisfaction of a hard-earned 30+ kill match.
