I was having a conversation with a friend the other day saying that we were overdue a new edition of space hulk. The most recent re-run of the 4th edition box was back in 2014. Ive never been able to get my hands on a copy, but ive been lucky enough to play a couple of games, I feel like GW missed an opportunity with the new terminator and genestealer sculpts of last edition.
I'll level with you guys. I'm bad at 40k. Really bad. Like read all the rules but never fully comprehend them because my brain sort of trails off bad.
I play casually with my friend group. Through 10th I mostly played death guard and almost always lost. Even when we were extremely "meta". With that in mind, we all decided to go for a xenos army to mix things up as we all play chaos and imperial armies.
I chose genestealer cults because they look cool, then I found out they have a reputation for being the most difficult and tactically complex army in the game.
Do you have any advice for the smooth-brain of the gaming group?
My party released tiamat at the end of their campaign in order to get an edge on the army of zariel that was attacking them, so I thought a levelled up rise of tiamat campaign would be a good way to tie things up. There are a couple of things I wanted advice on:
They encountered Arkhan the cruel in avernus, so I'm thinking of replacing severing silrajin with him. Does this make sense or will it cause issues down the line?
I introduced dragon orbs in the last campaign. They seem to basically do the same as the dragon masks so, again I was thinking of replacing them. (For context, Arkhanhad the red one when they encountered him and they really stupidly gave him the white orb in exchange for information. They met mordenkainen who had the black one and confirmed that the green was missing and the blue believed destroyed.)
Re: above i was thinking of scrapping the Jonathan's tower section entirely and replacing it with an incredibly dangerous crawl through a crashed tower of Urm that's been attacked by Arkhan and his army who has struck to sieze the black dragon orb.
