1920s Genestealer Gang Kill Team
Still a work in progress. Hopefully to paint them in black and white. Votann coats are just such good bits for genestealers.

Yesterday I played my first ever game with genestealers. I had played tyranids for about 8 months now so I have some experience. My friend plays marines and quite a good player so I knew that it would be a hard battle. Played for a 1000 points and used the final day detachment. He got some good hits into my rockgrinder and left it with 1 wound left but that meant, that he left his storm speeder thunderstrike out in the open. My plan was pretty much to kill his storm speeder with my rockgrinder before it dies next turn. I had some neophytes in range also and advenced my parasite of mortex within 6 of him for the buff. I also had sustained hits 1 fror the neophytes from enhancement. The neophytes had a mining laser seismic cannon and grenade launcher. They shot everything into the speeder and only hot three damage in with the grenade. I kept a cp for reroll for the rockgrinders mining laser, used it to make one shot into two then missed both. After all that I was a little upset. My friend said that it wasn't so surprising that I did nothing into him because my antitank hits on 4+ but I still kinda feel robbed. Even if I wouldn't kill the thing at least I could have put it into bracketed. Am I delusional?
These were a gift from someone at my gaming club, complete with funky backpack conversions. They've been stripped and repainted in my cultists colours.
…damn Wario actually has purple pants, but i think i’ll call him Wario anyway
Had with these. Do be aware that the plastic Asmode uses is different than GW Styrene and takes longer to melt/fuse with Tamiya plastic cement. I dropped the big Abominant and he popped off the base. Bits used:
Benefictus: Hel-smiths Urak Tar chaos magic swoosh, 4 warrior arms, acolyte head (40mm base)
Icon Bearer: Acolyte hybrid GSC icon top of staff, on
Benefictus double arm. Pistol hand from Acolyte as well.(40mm base)
She Hulk (Aberrant): Space Hulk Purestrain Genestealer hands, extra limb from I think Venomthrope kit. (50mm base)
Sanctus: Ripper Head, Lucius arm and Warrior Talon Arm, as well as Lucius base under models base rock. (50mm base)
Abominant: Hive Tyrant head with Venomthrope side tentacles, Lictor front tentacles, Killteam Barricade on Cadian Hydra (AA tank) Platform where the solider stands. (65mm base)
700 points no objectives cause it was a learning game. I lost but had fun and managed to do some sneaky moves with cult ambush. Took out his bladeguard with demo run, my aberrants refused to die for most of the match and the kelermorph managed to get some good kills in.
So I was rummaging around in my bits box, and built these stand-in Locus and Biophagus. Do you reckon they're distinguishable or is there anything to add to make them better? Reductus for scale
Thank you :)
Second hand models I bought and 'refurbished'. The flag dude was holding a machine turret and I cut off his hands. His pose was difficult to just glue something on (I also don't have the skills). So I cut down a banner and made him a bannerman. Not on the pictures but a shot off bloody arm from the previous banner owner lies next to him.
Since we haven't got our faction focus yet here are my guesses on what we are gonna get:
2 points redone Final Day
(Likely not gonna change much)
1 point psyker detachment.
(Buffs to magus, benefictus and patriarch)
1 point lone op detachment
(Buffs to Kelermorph, Reductus Saboteur and sanctus)
If anyone got any other predictions i would love to hear them
Hey everyone! Just want to warn you that I got interested in 40k about one month ago.
A few days ago I bought a Starter Set and then sold the Space Marines, so it cost me only about $35 to get the Tyranids from it, plus $60 for the starter set paints and Wraithbone spray.
I really like bugs, but I also want them to have vehicles. Do I understand correctly that I can use the Winged Tyranid Prime and Von Ryan’s Leapers together with Genestealers from my Starter Set?
I am thinking about buying the Genestealer Battleforce and Achilles Ridgerunner this summer because my local got these boxes at good prices ($150 and $45). That would bring my army to about 900 points in total, which is pretty close to 1000 points. Ofc I gonna buy needed paints too.
I really like the Battleforce because it has two leaders that can buff Aberrants and Neophyte Hybrids, as well as vehicles that can transport them. Also, as I understand it, I can use my Winged Tyranid Prime as a third leader to buff Genestealers?
At the same time, I also want the Achilles Ridgerunner because I could use it as artillery thanks to its heavy mortar (and because I want to have more cars in my army). I just really like how it looks xD
Was mainly trying to get the purple skin to a place I liked before beginning to paint the rest of the army
Of course, right now im looking to bring as much Nids as possible, but im a big Genestealer fan, so I want to bring some even though its probably not optimal in final day from what I can read.
Im looking on some insight on must have characters i might be overlooking, i feel like locus and primus look interesting... probably gargoyles as well... what combo am i missing in your army?
