What was that instrument Smoothkock’s Skwisgaar played?

I was just watching that clip and I always thought it was a clarinet, but I looked closer, and I guess it isn’t, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that specific instrument before.

Edit: I’m referring to the tribute band clip. Not sure if sharing clips is allowed here, so I can only say check it out on Youtube.

“I just don’t understand how you ended up going along with a quirk marriage, Shoko.”

“I mean, after what happened…” Mina said delicately as she looked at Todoroki, “I figured you’d fight every opportunity against it. Maybe even delay until you’re 18 and just leave.”

Shoko shrugged. “At first, I was.” She said, and then after a moment, “I guess I just…”

Just then, the first set of parents arrived at the dormitories, which was Izuku’s family, a surprisingly large number of rabbit heteromorphs, which Mina soon realized was mostly his siblings.

When they entered, Mina realized as they wiped their feet, that they all had rabbits’ feet, and no shoes to remove. Shoko politely bowed to Inko, who returned the gesture, along with all her children.

“It’s an honor to see you all again.” Shoko said in a soft yet very formal tone.

Mina blinked when Shoko’s demeanor suddenly softened as several of the younger rabbits hopped at her and she pulled them into a hug and held one in each arm. The rest surrounded her as Inko tried to greet her.

“Can you make us snow cones again?”

“Izuku said you can use your fire now!”

“Let’s make an ice slide like last time!”

“I’m so sorry.” Inko said apologetically, “They’ve been so excited to see you again.”

“It’s alright. I don’t mind.” Shoko said, with a soft smile on her face, surrounded by the children sized rabbits, all eager for her attention.

Mina watched in awe as Shoko led the mass of green fur through the dorm, smiling warmly and speaking to them like an older sister.

Later, while some of their classmates and the other parents kept the children entertained in the living room, she saw Inko and Shoko working close together, alongside Mei, who’d showed up with her other son and daughter. The Todoroki’s and Midoriya’s all quietly, happily working together.

Even when one of the smaller Midoriya’s a run of a little girl with the largest set of bunny ears she’d ever seen wondered in, Mina saw her go straight to Shoko, who happily picked her up and set her on a stool next to her and let her help with the dinner prep.

Mina marveled at the peaceful serenity on Shoko’s face, in contrast to her normal stern, stoic demeanor, which was completely gone.

If you actually cared about climate change, you would hate China with a fiery passion Trump could only dream of.

Climate activists are all over hating the West over what we do that hurts the environment, but the moment you bring up what non western countries, suddenly, it’s straight up head in the sand.

If you actually cared as much as you say about the environment, you would HATE China with a passion most could only dream of.

And it’s because they do more damage to the Earth’s environment than any other country, and it’s not even close.

Proof: https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/co2-emissions-by-country/

And this is just their CO2 emissions. This doesn’t get into the deforestation.

Or the fact that they contribute to poaching far, FAR more than any other country.

Proof: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/poaching-by-country

But mention any of this to an environmental activist, and it’s straight up head in the sand.

“But muh AC unit emissions-“

Contribute a minuscule amount of emissions compared to China.

“But muh suffering animals in butcher factories-“

Google how many butcher factories China has and then cry me a river.

Are there any novels with a (more or less) Knightly theme to it?

I was just curious if this has ever been done, as I’m looking for my next BT novel.

It doesn’t have to be full “We’re holy knights here to protect the innocent,” but something like where if not said directly, the protagonist has kind of the perspective that he’s like a knight.

Something kind of like Percy from the Marauder anthology, but without the obsession of hunting one specific target.

How accurate was the shows depiction of Norway towns?

Like do they have one nice little shop after another and then there’s just this run down one out of the 1800s with what sounds like someone violently strangling a goat blasting from the speakers?

“We’re brooding.”

“Hey, could you go get Midoriya?” Yaoyorozu asked Ochaco, “He said he was going to talk to Tokoyami about something.”

“Okay.” Ochaco nodded and hustled upstairs. She walked straight to Tokoyami’s room and knocked.

There was no answer.

“Tokoyami? Midoriya…Deku?” Uraraka said loudly, but still got no answer.

She tested the knob and found it was unlocked. She slowly opened the door and saw Midoriya and Tokoyami sitting on the floor, wrapped in a combination of blankets and Dark Shadow, each wearing headphones. She could vaguely hear some kind of metal music blasting in their ears.

Sitting in the dark, she almost couldn’t see them, except for Midoriya’s skin under his midnight black hair.

They both opened their eyes and looked at her. She couldn’t see Dark Shadow, but she felt its eyes on her.

“Uh…what’re you two doing?”

“We’re brooding.” Midoriya said darkly as all three of them stared at her.

“Oookay…” she slowly closed the door.

How would Class A react to this version of Izuku in their second year?

I’m kind of struggling with how to both introduce this version of Izuku, as well as his class’s reaction to him.

As a quick note, NONE of them have ever met him prior to this, and the reason I’m looking at having him only arrive during their second year is because this Izuku starts out relatively powerful with just his quirk alone.

The short version is he is a spider heteromorph, making him more or less Spider-Deku, but he keeps his face covered at all times, because of how off putting his face is, and he has extra limbs, the extra four being large spider limbs sprouting from his back, which he wraps around him. Point of fact, when he’s first introduced, they think he’s wearing a harness, until one of them unwraps and waves at them. He has all the basic powers, including webbing, but his danger sense isn’t its own separate thing, so much as a product of a combination of his sensitivity to vibrations and lightning reflexes.

Basically he can’t literally sense danger, but he can have a pretty good notion something coming up behind him, and will usually jump out of the way.

Where I’m struggling mostly is what happens the moment they’re free from class, as I got it down up until then, where he comes to class, Aizawa introduces him and assigns his seat, before going on with their first lesson for the day.

It’s like I get to the point of their class where Aizawa dismisses them to go to lunch, and then meet at the training grounds, and I get stumped on what happens.

Like who and how many approach to speak to him, and what they say.

What is the in universe reason for MechWarriors needing to be so highly trained?

I know narratively why, because it’s a universe of giant robots so they have to be the elite of the elite, but in universe, why specifically do they need to be so highly trained, even in times when ‘Mechs are relatively abundant?

Like is using the helmet without the proper training dangerous somehow, or is there some kind of extra strain from using the ‘Mechs, other than the heat they have to endure?

Hagakure was perfectly able to make herself visible the whole time. She just liked the excuse to save time on laundry.

“Are you serious?!” Asui asked, staring at her in disbelief.

“Yes! I hate doing laundry! It’s like the most boring and tedious chore ever!!!

“But it’s easy! All you have to do is-“

“Don’t at me with that Tsu! You can’t tell me you enjoy splashing your clothes in hot water all day, and rubbing them on a wash board for hours!”

“But…wait what?”

“And then you have to hang them on a clothes line where everyone can see your underwear for hours. And because of Mineta I have to stand guard because he keeps trying to-“

“What are you talking about?”

“Washing clothes! What else could I be talking about?”

“Just use the machines!”

“The…the what?”

Asui grabbed Hagakure by the hand and dragged her to the laundry room in the back of the dorm.

“These. We have four washers and dryers. Why don’t you use them? We even have specific days for boys and girls.” Asui pointed to a calendar on the wall, where they had specific days colored in blue or pink.

Hagakure stared at them. Asui looked at her, and began to put it together.

“Have…have you never used a washing machine before?”

“How long have we had these?”

Asui sighed. “Just go get your laundry. I’ll show you how to use them.”

What changes would you make if the setting of MHA was post major war?

As in Japan’s mainland was hit at some point, and characters like All Might have full on combat experience. Society as a whole is now scarred and trying to recover.

Also not in an alt history thing, I mean as in their era of time, in the future, with quirks and all.

This is kind of related to one idea I was kicking around, where while not all of them, some of the main cast were affected by the war one way or other. I’m not saying any of them had to go full on soldier or resistance militia.

For example, by coincidence, Bakugo was never affected by it personally. He grew up in a perfectly safe area that was away from any war zone, and his parents were able to remain employed one way or other so money was never an issue. This could be something he resents (being a teenager) as he fully thinks he could’ve taken the enemy soldiers, and maybe something others mock him over.

But then someone like maybe Shoji was full on in an occupation zone, before Japan managed to take it back, so he’s spent time dealing with that kind of treatment, on top of what he is shown to have dealt with in canon. Maybe the enemy forces were even pro heteromorph, so they actually treated him well, and so he’s actually a bit resentful now.

Maybe in a twist of irony, Yaoyorozu’s family lost everything in the war, so she not only had to get in via earning it, the pressures on for her to redeem the family via becoming a successful hero.

Then inversely, Ochaco’s family are on the way up because their construction business is BOOMING with government contracts flooding in, so now she’s suddenly rich, and not used to it.

One idea I had was the whole reason there even is a hero school at all is because of Nezu, who wants to start pumping out heroes to start restoring a sense of safety and normalcy.

Landmine *click* trap works pretty well at giving players agency and teamwork.

I saw a YouTube short where someone recommended using this different kind of trap where instead of when they step on the plate, rather than instantly going off, it does that tv trope where as long as the guy doesn’t take his foot off it, it doesn’t go off.

I decided to try that and it actually worked.

My players are the standard affair, and while going through a dungeon, the barbarian didn’t spot it, but did make his reflex save to stop himself after he heard the click.

It was a basic dart trap, if he took his foot off it, and failed the save, he got hit by the darts shooting from the walls.

After the expected pointing out of the trope, the team actually worked together to save the barbarian, using the wizard’s staff two players, the rogue and cleric pressed on the plate, the barbarian got off it, moved back, and they released it.

Trap went off, no one got hurt.

The barbarian then walked forward without checking and stepped on the second plate past the first.

This happened 3 times, though to be fair, they failed the rolls on the third one, before the barbarian just got a stick and used it like a blind man’s cane.

“Maybe don’t smash my guitar, Midoriya.”

One evening, as Class A was together, slowly going over the music for their performance, an audible gasp made Jiro stop to look at Izuku.

“I’m so sorry!” He said as he held the body of her guitar she’d given him in one hand, and the neck in the other, where they’d clearly come apart. He looked horrified as he looked at her, clearly bracing for her to snap at him.

She just smiled, “Don’t sweat it, it’s meant to do that.”

“What?” Izuku replied in confusion. He tried to put them back together, but couldn’t.

“Let me show you.” She said, and with practiced ease, snapped them back together. She then checked a switch on the back and turned it. “There, it should hold together now. Make sure it’s still in tune.”

Izuku nodded and did as he was told, before returning to practice.

Later, as they began to pack up, Jiro caught Izuku fiddling with the switch.

“So does it break like that so you can pack it away better?” He asked curiously.

“No, it’s actually designed to break when you smash it.” Jiro said, “My Mom’s into punk rock, and a common trope is to smash their guitars at the end of the day. Why don’t you give it a shot?”

“Really?”

“Yeah. Go for it, it’s a lot of fun. Just don’t use your quirk.”

“Okay.” Izuku nodded, and took the guitar by the neck, after Jiro made sure the switch was in the right position.

After everyone stepped away, except for Katsuki, who was busy putting the drum set away, Izuku raised it over his head, and slammed the guitar on the floor as hard as he could without activating One-For-All.

Unfortunately, Jiro had forgotten that that specific guitar was sporting a pair of older, worn out strings she hadn’t gotten around to changing yet.

The body snapped off, as designed, but the strings immediately snapped as well, and it went flying.

It flew over and slammed into the back of Bakugo’s head and he was out like a light, leaving them all standing there in stunned silence.

For a long, silent moment, no one moved, or even spoke, the only noise being the guitar body hitting the floor.

Once their shock faded a few seconds later, they got him to the nurse’s office, where he would be fine, though he now had a massive lump on the back of his head.

Who was the guy in the temple Skwisgaar fell in?

During the episode where Skwisgaar has the flash back showing where he got his first guitar, and there’s a dead guy there.

When I originally watched it, because I didn’t get a good look, I figured it was just some Viking guy or other but I was just watching and managed to pause it just in time to get a good look, and he’s wearing (relatively) modern clothes. Mostly leather with spike studs, something kind of like an 80s punk rocker and holding a Viking sword.

I was curious if he was a reference to someone or something, as I know this show frequently makes references to various rock bands, and events.

What do you think loyalist Night Lords would be like?

Like in an AU where they remained loyal rather than going renegade.

I’m aware of AU’s like the Dornian Heresy, but I’ve been having issues posting on their subreddit to ask them about it.

I was thinking if we started with the base where his home planet sent viable candidates, rather than prisoners for new recruits, and maybe going a bit further and before things escalated, Kurze listened to reason, and never turned on his brothers.

From there what do you think they would be like as loyalists, if no other legion changed.

One idea I thought would be kind of funny just because of the juxtaposition is at least towards humans, they’re Salamander levels of kind and protective, but the moment a threat presents itself, they turn on the monster and become canon NL level devious and violent.

So we have like one scene where a Night Lord is doing something like singing and covering a child’s ears so he doesn’t hear his brothers skinning a bunch of still living chaos cultists to make skin suits to terrify the rest of the cult, before later covering his eyes so he doesn’t see the nightmare landscape as he walks him to safety.

Maybe they either have brother designated or another legion follows them that solely exists to keep civilians away from areas they’re operating in because they’re still using terror tactics and don’t want to scare their allies.

Bakugo’s reaction to killing Izuku, and seeing him come back from the dead. TW

Trigger Warning: Suicide.

I’m kind of struggling with this part of my story.

The basic idea is Izuku ends up taking the swan dive, and to make it worse, lands right in front of Bakugo, even splattering him with his blood.

To keep it short, Bakugo is punished to a degree, but lucks out when the HPSC basically bail him out. The short version is All Might retires early, and the Commission is in a panic to fill the gap as uncertainty begins to spread, and when they learn this one kid who wanted to be a hero with a really good quirk exists, they lessened his sentence, so he just had to finish his middle school in juvie, be a good boy, and they scrubbed his record.

Which is the only reason UA accepted him. They didn’t know, as the news reports protected his identity when it happened because he was a minor, and his quirk wasn’t involved so it wasn’t even a thing of deduction based on that, and the HPSC basically made it look like he finished his normal middle school with high marks. It’s exactly as crooked as you’re thinking, but that’s part of the story’s theme.

Then, when the USJ occurs, Izuku returns, and is a perfect nomu, looking like his normal self, and is basically Wolverine. Claws, metal bones (and claws), healing factor etc…

The part I’m struggling with is Bakugo’s reaction to all this. From the moment Izuku lands right in front of him, basically putting the result of his actions right in front of him, to him reappearing, seemingly from the dead, at the USJ.

Initially I tried to write him as so horrifyingly traumatized that he doesn’t even remember all of it. Because of his trial, and being charged, he is aware of what he did, but his mind’s essentially blocked it out. From there, for the most part, he’s basically his normal self, but he’s quieter. He doesn’t scream every word, but is extremely isolated, on purpose. He doesn’t want to let anyone too close, lest he hurt them like he did Midoriya, and he also doesn’t want to be the bully he once was.

Then when Izuku returns, one kind of sad scene I had in mind is actually him trying to lift his own guilt by doing something really stupid without thinking, which is going straight to Inko. Basically, right after the USJ, as everyone else is recovering, Izuku has been taken in to custody while they try to figure out what to do with him, and before they’ve even confirmed if it really is him, Katsuki races over to the Midoriya residence, and just announces this to Inko.

Which results in her slapping and berating him, as she thinks, given how cruel and even psychotic he had been on the day her son took his own life, this was some kind of black hearted prank. She even calls the police on him, which results in them showing up at his home and confronting him about it, even further berating him for bothering that poor woman.

Though ultimately, it is confirmed to be the real Izuku, albeit he has amnesia, and is taken in by UA, who also allow Inko to move onto campus to help with his rehabilitation.

Which also kind of presents a further issue I’m not sure how to handle, as this also means the Midoriya’s are living with Bakugo at the dormitory. The kid that bullied Izuku into hurting himself in the first place.

At this point, I think I’ve just written myself into a corner, and need to go back and do some rewriting.

Did anyone ever make a rom hack specifically for nuzlockes?

As in it enforces the normal nuzlocke rules?

I’m aware simply enforcing the rules on yourself isn’t that hard, I’m just wondering if this is a thing.

Like when a Pokémon faints, they can’t be revived, and you can only capture the first Pokémon in a region you come across and after that the balls just fail.

All enforced by the rom hack, rather than the player having to do it.

I did try searching for it but there are so many nuzlockes done on rom hacks I just couldn’t sift through all of them.

I’ve read Lord of Excess, and Eidolon, and while I’m aware of the one in the former, and Eidolon’s sonic scream, I was wondering if there was any novel where a Noise Marine was the main focus.

Like getting into their whole deal with music and such.

I’m open to HH novels as well, though it’s not my particularly preferred setting. I am currently reading the novel where they first appeared, however, which I’m not going to name because I’m sure this is a huge spoiler for the ending.

“You can put Bakugo to sleep with a bass guitar?”

When they decided to put on a concert for the rest of their school, and started figuring out who would do what, Izuku mentioned he played bass guitar.

“Yeah I learned to play it in school.” Midoriya said with a smile.

Jiro smiled back, “Well then, show us!”

She handed him her bass guitar, and he proceeded to play a pretty good riff.

“Nice! You’re on bass guitar then.”

They moved on, getting everything together. Later on, as they began to wine down for the night, the guitarists were going over some of their riffs, and chatting.

“So when did you start playing bass?” One of them asked Izuku curiously.

“Oh, it was actually because of Kacchan’s mom. She showed me this riff that puts him to sleep.”

“SHUT UP DEKU!!!” Bakugo, who’d been in the process of putting his drum set away, snapped angrily.

“Wait? Really like a lullaby?”

“Kind of. I can’t really explain it but it just puts him to sleep, instantly.”

“DEKU!!!”

Bakugo began storming towards him. Izuku suddenly played a quick riff that took only a full two seconds, and like a switch was flipped, Katsuki fell to the floor like a puppet with his strings cut.

They all fell silent as he began to snore.

“Huh.” Kaminari said. “He’s really out!”

“We still don’t know why, but that riff just knocks him out…and I shouldn’t be around when he wakes up.” Izuku began to leave.

“How heavy does he sleep?” Denki asked as he poked Katsuki. He snapped back to full awake.

“IM GONNA KILL YOU DEKU!!!” Bakugo launched himself at Midoriya.

Izuku played the riff again and jumped to the side. Katsuki crash landed, and was snoring soundly again.
