Trying out makeup sponges for basing for the first time and this is the red I came up with. I tried my best making a gradient, as I’m not the biggest fan of edge highlighting. What do you guys think of it? C&C please!
I am working on a Red Corsair CSM army but have only just started collecting and painting Warhammer 40k and I was hoping for some advice from people that are more familiar with the game. I have assembled and painted a couple groups of Red Corsair Raiders and a group of Chosen. I would like to add some CSM Legionaries to my collection, but I see they are in the same ornate style as the Chosen. I personally like the less fancy Red Corsair marine models for my army since I see them as more pirates than cultists. I was thinking about using my leftover bits and maybe the Red Corsair upgrade kit to convert a different box into Corsair Legionaries. Can someone suggest a more "basic" box of marines that would make good candidates for conversion? It would be a great bonus if the box had the weapons that Legionnaires have as options as well.
I’m looking into getting Red Corsairs as my next chaos faction, my question is what’s the best models to start out with as I heard the CP and Battleforce are not the best options. Not looking for too much to start off.
I've picked up the Combat Patrol and wandering if The Lords of the Maelstrom would be a good addition?
Also I know nothing about them so is there any good books to read?
Finished up the paintjob on this fantastic mini! Very happy with how my conversion came out and he blends right in with the Legionaries and Chosen he will be walking into battle beside. The Dark Angels helm is a recent trophy he has taken as payback for Vraks. I am excited to get some games in with him! Red Corsairs are such a striking army and keep me going in the hobby even when my muse wanes.
I try to cut every corner possible to get a decent result. I just focus on the main details to save time without compromising the overall look too much.
So fun lore: he is a fallen dark angel deathwing terminator and leads my red corsairs terminators, but my night lords hate him because he was a dark angel (my warband is mixed legions under a night lords daemon prince, and they have beef for dark angels)
As for the base question: I know the current terminator lord is on a 40mm base, but this model doesn’t fit snug on one, and I’m concerned that if there is a new lord in terminator armour (whenever it is revealed) it will be on a 50mm like the loyalist captain in terminator armour
That and I want a bigger base to do more cool stuff
This was my first attempt at using pigment powders, and I really love how the dusty, sun bleached look came out
9 terminators, 9 loyalist legions abandoned. What do you guys think of the kitbashes? C&C welcome!
Hi!
I've gotten back to the hobby and happy collecting the new RC kits. Stopped playing about 20 years ago when I sold my IG Valhallans. I sold all but two. I kept the flamer w/ garrison cap, and the running guardsmen w/ helmet for a KT. The running Valhallan was possibly my favorite sculpt until the new Fellgor and why I chose the RC CP.
I'm looking to finish out my last 2000pts. I am planning to take a war dog as a last unit, but alternately I have the following question. Is there viability for a Helbrute with my current army? I don't have a havoc squad to hang back with, and I don't envision the Helbrute fast enough to meet forward infantry mid board. Is there some combo of detachment and unit I should be considering with what I already I have that beneficial?
(Basically CP, BF, and MoM soup, no Daemons)
I love the traditional box naught and may want to bash something regardless in the future, but I am interested on how I should play a Helbrute with the units I currently have.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Grabbed a second MoE and went to work chopping him up >:) feels very fitting considering the model lol. I shaved away some of the stitching on the cloak and am filling it in and sanding it down to give it less of a flesh look and more of a patched cloth look. Red Corsair shoulder pad and Shoulder pad from the Legionary upgrade sprue really tie this cloth look together! I am happy with the axe as well, the Depredator axe from the Raptors would have also worked well, but wasn’t giving me the silhouette I was looking for.
For context I have 3 armies. Primarily Salamanders, Corsairs second and Orks Third. I've mostly painted just salamanders but have painted a Red Corsair Legionary within the last month or so. This however is different. A fully painted, Transfers included and with a Lava Base....chefs kiss!
