need help for my campaign

Hi, i've been a dm before in D&D. Now im about to DM a cyberpunk red campaign, i've bought the book, read it twice, prepared some sheets to help my players understand better the whole Cyberpunk universe. Some have played the game, some have watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners. We are all pretty excited for this campaign. I love the story that i wrote and the characters in it. Only one question: i think that dying here is a lot "easier" than in D&D. I have done campaigns where players should have died but magically didn't because i felt bad and the players really loved theyr characters, i feel like i don't want to do this here.
I want them to feel the harshness of this world and to understand that from actions comes consequences. Is that a bad choice? Am i being an ass? I kinda want them to be on the edge all the time. I will balance well the encounters but...if you die you die. Is that bad? We have played multiple campaigns before, not only D&D and none of the characters died. I'm scared they won't enjoy it but i also feel like this is the type of world in which you wont get an epic chance to save your friends.
