Im 5'8" (173cm), looking for a new gravel-ish bike. At the Trek store they put me on a 54cm frame for the Domane but I felt too overextended. 52 was a bit better. Also tried the Checkpoint Small and that was good.

Went to another bike shop in town and he put me on a Domane 49, which still felt fine, actually I think the frame on the 49/52 is same reach overall. He swore I should get a 49, didn't even want me to try the 52.

Checked out a guy that sells many bikes from his backyard who swore I need a 54 and no smaller.

It's all getting in my head a bit, as a new bike is a big purchase and I don't want to realize it's the wrong fit a couple months down the line.

Any thoughts? I think I have normal legs/arms proportion for my height.
