We regularly camp in the North Maine Woods since our goal is usually to get as far from civilization as possible. I priced out a longer trip this fall, but camping/day-use access on the Golden Road would be around $800 for 10 nights, which is unfortunately out of our budget this year.

Are there any other areas in northern Maine we could explore back roads and do remote camping? I know we’re more limited without access to the Golden Road, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
