Playtime for a 16-months old

Hi fellow moms! What are your specific games, boxes, playtime ideas to keep an almost-18-months old toddler occupied, especially when they’re sick or at least not at 100%?

For now, I’ve prepared some boxes with special puzzles. She also has her drawing table. Overall, our apartment is child-proof and there are sets of toys lying around for her to discover while she walks around the apartment. On warm days, there’s also a baby water fountain on our balcony for her to play with water.

I do feel however that this setup gets increasingly boring to her. Yet, I’m hesitant to introduce finger paint because of the cleaning and tidying up afterwards.

What are your ideas and tricks?

Wondering about how this year’s daycare germs have changed us. How has sick season made you more productive or organised? Let’s please find the positives that we can also share as work-related skills.

I feel like I’m preparing now better for emergencies, e.g., to close the laptop mid-sentence. I don’t leave things to chance anymore, I just make sure to have everything set in place in case my baby suddenly gets sick in the night.

I also have an additional e-calendar called „sick mode“ to make sure I’m right on track whenever the flu hits: When to make a nasal rinse, when to wash all the bedlinen, and especially containing a list of all the websites where I might have created appointments (work, doctors, hairdresser, etc) - to be cancelled first thing in the morning
