Need suggestions for my 1st solo travel!

25F from India planning my first solo backpacking trip in September for around 7 - 8 days.

I’m currently considering Portugal, Croatia, or Montenegro. I’m more interested in slower travel, coastal towns, cafés, walking around local neighborhoods, short hikes, bookstores, and nature rather than nightlife or partying. Right now things have been very emotionally exhuasting for me in all ways and I badly need some time for myself.

Right now I’m thinking of:

  • Portugal: Porto + Lisbon
  • Croatia: Split + smaller coastal towns
  • Montenegro: Kotor + Budva area

I’d prefer somewhere beginner-friendly for solo travel, easy to navigate with public transport, and not too cold (slightly chilly evenings are fine, just not heavy jacket weather).

For people who’ve backpacked these places:

  • Which route would you recommend for a first solo trip?
  • Is 7 - 8 days enough without rushing?
  • Would hostels or guesthouses be better for meeting people while still having personal space?

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve done similar trips.

Need suggestions for my 1st solo travel!

Hi everyone! I’m a 25-year-old woman from India planning my first solo international trip for around 7–8 days in August/Sept

I’m looking for a destination that feels peaceful, scenic, culturally rich, and safe for solo female travelers. Right now things have been alot emotionally exhausting (both professional and personal life) I’m not very interested in nightlife or party heavy places I’d rather spend time exploring cafés, local neighborhoods, nature, bookstores, slow living, and everyday culture.

I’d also prefer weather that’s pleasant/slightly chilly at most, but not cold enough to need heavy jackets.

So far, I’ve mainly been researching:

  • Portugal
  • Croatia
  • Italy
  • Montenegro

Open to suggestions !

For people who’ve traveled solo to these places:

  • Which felt the safest and most emotionally relaxing?
  • Which was easiest to navigate for a first-time solo traveler?
  • Would you recommend staying mostly in one city/town or moving around?

Would really appreciate hearing personal experiences!
