[Lunar Eternal Blue] Possible glitch during Zophar's 3rd form?

I was attempting this fight last night and noticed something really weird.

At some point during the 3rd form, some of my characters simply had their turns skipped without performing any actions. Naturally, I couldn't beat the boss because the character who had White Dragon Protect equipped just couldn't cast it.

Anyone ever encountered this? I looked it up online but couldn't find anything definitive. According to the AI Summary, it might have something to do with the repositioning of your characters.

Anyway, I am going to try again this evening without repositioning my characters at all.

EDIT: Done! This time I just left everyone in their starting positions and didn't encounter this problem.

Using High-Risk & High-Reward Items/Weapons/Accessories

This thought suddenly came to me while playing Suikoden 2. In this game, there are a couple of runes which have powerful effects but are risky to use. Some examples are as follows:

  • Double-Edged Rune (apparently called Double Strike Rune in the original version): The character does 2x damage to enemies, but also takes 2x damage from enemies.
  • Warrior Rune: The character's physical defense is reduced by 50%, and then added to physical attack.
  • Wizard Rune: The counterpart of Warrior Rune, but uses MDF and MA.

I am sure there are similar things in other JRPGs I have played such as Bloody Equipment from Star Ocean The Second Story R. Personally, I rarely use them.

What about you? Do you like playing with these high-risk & high-reward items/weapons/accessories?

EDIT: From the comments, it seems that a fair number of players adopt an risk-averse playstyle, just like myself.

How many playable characters would you use in Suikoden games?

I am currently playing Suikoden I Remastered. The most unique feature of this game/series is of course the large number of recruitable characters. In the first game, 70-ish of them are playable, i.e., they can be used in combats. The rest act as functional NPCs in your base. For example, merchants, blacksmith, warehouse operator, etc.

I normally train all playable characters in any JRPGs equally (or almost equally). Even in Trails into Reverie which has 50-ish playable characters, I rotated among them while going through the Reverie Corridor.

A key difference I have noticed between Suikoden I and other JRPGs is that most characters seem to only differ in their stats (some are notably stronger). This makes me wonder how many playable characters people tend to actively use in this game.
