Anyone find starting to study way harder than just studying?

When I begin studying, I can continue for at least an hour.

The hardest part is always before studying.

I'll sit down trying to study, but almost automatically I go on reddit or Youtube and scroll for 20-30 minutes.

When I finally do exam questions, I'm always like this wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

Is anyone else like this?

I think I've figured out why I procrastinate

I don't think motivation is actually my problem anymore. I've realised I usually know exactly what I need to do. It's just actually getting myself to start. I'll sit down and doomscroll for what feels like 30 minutes. But then I check the time and 2 hours has been wasted. When I finally start... I realise the task was never as bad as I was dreading & avoiding.

Recently I've been trying to make the first step stupidly small. Not "finish the essay". Just open the document. Write one sentence. Read one page. It's honestly worked better than all the usual stuff fake influencers recommend like cold showers or doing push ups first.

Anyone else like this? Or is your procrastination completely different?
