Reminder that tomorrow, Monday October 5 is the last day to register to vote in Texas for the November 3 midterms. If you haven't yet, DO IT. Voting affects everything, including your education, your bills, available resources and healthcare. Don't trust the polls, go vote. Historically, Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts, 49th place out of 50. You can change that.
You need to register in person or use the mail-in the form linked below and make sure it will be post marked by October 5. You can ask for a manual post mark at the post office to make sure your registration is on time

If you want to check to make sure you're still registered or need to change your address because you moved, you can do that online. Even if you think your registration is active, check again anyway. Texas has a habit of mass purging and suspending voters ahead of elections. Make sure.

Then when it's time to vote do it early, and on campus in the first floor of the HEB Student Union, if you're registered to vote in Bexar County. Early Voting starts October 19-30.

Reminder that the last day to register to vote is on October 5, 2026 and it cannot be done online so make a plan if you aren't already registered.
If you're already registered please check to make sure your status is active and the county you live in is correct. Over 1.1 million have been suspended or purged from the voter rolls so make sure your registration is still good.
If you're registered in Bexar County you can vote at any polling location during early voting and Nov 3, you don't have to go to a specific polling location. That means if you're registered in Bexar County you'll be able to vote here on campus on the first floor of the HEB Student Union. Make sure you bring a valid government issued photo ID, your student ID is not sufficient.
Don't wait for November 3 to vote, vote early to avoid any possible voter disenfranchisement tactics. Early voting starts October 19-30.
You can also see a sample ballot to help you research candidates.
UTSA currently has this map available of the gender neutral bathrooms on campus
UTSA All Gender Restrooms
But I noticed a lot of locations are missing so I made a new map with them added. If you know of any I missed lmk and I'll update the map.
Texas law passed SB 8, which took effect on December 4, 2025 that mandates that multi-occupancy restrooms and lockers be designated by gender assigned at birth for government buildings, public schools and universities. Violations are enacted as large fines against the university, not the individual. This law does not apply to single-occupancy restrooms and lockers so students/staff who are trans, intersex or gender nonconforming can safely use the gender neutral restrooms located on the map without fear of retribution or harassment.
I actually prefer to use these bathrooms because they are private, large, accessible to my disability (they do not have handicap door openers, though, something that needs improvement), and usually very clean.
Edit: I made a new comprehensive map, compiled from multiple maps and student reports:

A friend sent our group chat pics of these cloud formations she saw on her flight to Florida. We were discussing what they looked like and she drew some helpful outlines to show what she was seeing but for some reason did not want to draw outlines for that last pic even though I insisted she needed to for the sake of consistency.
I got these political mailers attacking Ken Paxton in the mail yesterday from "Texans Defending Accountability" PAC showing AI generated fake photos of Ken Paxton having coffee with Nancy Pelosi, riding bikes (in suits!) in front of the Capitol with Chuck Schumer, having ice cream with AOC, and playing basketball with James Talarico. The point of this messaging is that Ken Paxton is so much of a liability to Republicans because of his scandals, him winning the primary means a Democrat victory, therefore they are best friends. (Convoluted premise but not entirely wrong, it probably would mean a Democrat victory and I'm rooting for Talarico to win.)
I went to the website shown on the flyer but it's password protected and the domain name registrant is hidden. I could find very little about who the "Texas Defending Accountability" PAC is in general, I'm guessing one of those fly-by-night dark money PACs that disappears immediately after the election?
