Wish me luck...

I have had a story rattling around in my head for over 20 years. After some major recent life changes I realized if I never try I'll never know, so I finally put ink to paper (or I guess rather fingers to keyboard). It's slow, it's agonizing, and maddening when I can't get something quite right, but whether I sell a million copies or just one I'll consider it a success.

Question though, as I'm writing I find the story branching out in places I never suspected, is this normal? I've only ever written very short stories in the past so I've never encountered this. Also how good is AI at editing? Is it worth it? And is there a particular one thats better than others?

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck...
