Settings for Smoother Gameplay in Pinball FX on the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme at 15W

Hi everyone,

Previously, I asked for advice on how to reduce input lag while playing Pinball FX on the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme in 15W mode. Thank you all very much for your suggestions!

https://www.reddit.com/r/PinballFX3/comments/1t5wt21/seeking_optimization_tips_for_pinball_fxm_on_rog/

After considering everyone’s ideas, find settings on internet, asking AI for advice, and doing a lot of testing and tweaking, I finally found settings that provide noticeably lower latency while still keeping the graphics at an acceptable level.

The game now feels much smoother and more responsive than before, so I wanted to share these settings with anyone who might find them useful. If anyone has found even better settings or optimizations, please correct me,and if you use other handheld like steamdeck, I do`nt know how does it perform, maybe you can try this setting ,Thank you!

With these settings, when playing Snoopy Pinball, setting the FPS limit to 60 allows the game to maintain a stable 60 FPS according to the Steam performance monitor.

If the FPS limit is set to Unlimited, the Steam performance monitor shows that the game can exceed 200 FPS, but it does consume more battery power.

If you still feel the game is not smooth enough, you can lower the resolution to 1280×720, which allows the Steam performance monitor to reach around 240 FPS, but it does consume more battery power. Personally, I think setting it to 72 FPS already feels very smooth.

However, I’m still not sure whether these settings are suitable for Pinball FX Midnight tables yet. I’ll test them more later and see how they perform.

I want to share these settings with everyone, and once again, thank you all for your help and suggestions!

The in-game store for Pinball FX3 is not allowing any DLC purchases at the moment.

Hi everyone, I know Zen Studios previously announced that Pinball FX3 would be hidden or delisted on certain platforms. For the Switch version, it was mentioned that the game would be hidden, but players could still expand collections through the in-game store.

I happened to check today to see if I could make a purchase, but I kept getting an error message on the interface. Did I look in the wrong place, or am I missing something?

Hi everyone,

Although I own a laptop, I prefer playing pinball games on my ROG Ally (Z1E) at 15W. I’ve encountered a strange issue while playing Pinball FX and Pinball FX Midnight, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Here are my current settings and the problem:

Settings: 1280x720 resolution, all graphics effects set to Low, V-Sync OFF.

Uncapped FPS: The game runs at over 120 FPS, but the controls feel "heavy" or "sticky" (noticeable input lag).

Capped at 60 FPS: Even though the Steam overlay confirms a steady 60 FPS, the game feels choppy or stuttery. It just doesn't feel like a smooth 60 FPS experience.

Diagnostic Info: In the Steam overlay, there are numbers with up and down arrows next to the FPS (as seen in the photo). I’m not entirely sure what those represent.

I am currently using the -d3d11 launch option to run the game in DX11, which helps a bit, but the issue is still there.

Does any fellow ROG Ally Z1E user have a "sweet spot" for settings or any advice on how to fix this? I'd appreciate any shared experiences or configurations. Thanks!

I want to play pinball games like pinball fx3,pinball fx,pinball fx midnight……with Portrait Mode, but I don’t have a portrait monitor, then I think maybe I can store my laptop in this way,but I’m worried fans,SSD,or HDD in my laptop will be damaged by the way I store,is this true or it’s OK so I can play in this way?

Thanks for the answer!
