It's not about the output anymore, it's for a short dopamine spike

Incoming..

Bait list:

  • Free 3-day trial, then hide the unsubscribe button, hoping the user fails to cancel their subscription
  • Launching a $10 tier, then literally only giving a "few creations/day"
  • $30 for a three-month subscription, then keep downgrading it
  • $99 Heavy, 67% price cut with 90% quota cut 🤣

Judging by how many people keep falling for the bait, they'll set another one soon.

It's all about IPO

To boost their valuation during IPO, they'll need to show:

  • Solid financial performance ✅
  • Growing subscriber count ✅
  • They're better than AI competitors that will also go public soon ✅
  • Superior AI than the competitor ❓(soon, maybe)

- Solid financial performance

Their deal with Anthropic is estimated to be worth about $5 billion per year. To put that into perspective, it's the same as 13.9 million SuperGrok users that pay for a whole year (without discount). That's a number they know they'll never get.

They also got a contract from the DoD and the government. SpaceX is also doing fine.

- Growing subscriber count

They already make it look "good on paper"

  • March = Kill Imagine for the free users, add SG lite, so people blindly throw their money at them
  • April = Kill Expert Mode and drop the limit for free users. Again, people are throwing money at it to fix it.
  • May = Limit voice chat and make the limit worse, even for paying users. While giving 67% discount for SG Heavy.
  • They also give SG Lite to X premium users (who may not even know they have SG Lite, let alone use it). It'll boost the number of SG Lite subscribers.

They don't care if you are unsubscribed, it won't show on the IPO presentation anyway.

- They're better than AI competitors that will also go public soon

OpenAI = If Altman says they'll go for profit, he'll lose the court. If he said they'll focus more on the non-profit part (or even try to reduce the profit-cap), they'll lose investors

Anthropic = Their AI is great, most big companies are their client, but they don't have enough computing power to back it up.

- Superior AI than the competitor

I think they're using most of Collosus II's computing power for the Grok 5 10T model training. And possibly, they ask Anthropic to help them to get it done in time, because they're far more experienced in creating a trillion-parameter model.

They want to create a model that will top all kinds of benchmarks and dominate the headlines, right before their IPO. (it might not be available until sometime after the IPO, and it might not be as smart as people expect, but at least it looks good on paper.)

After IPO, then what? They are already losing most of their subscribers.

Just turn down the moderation (aside from the problematic uploaded image edit), improve the limit, and people will come flying while throwing their money. (then repeat the enshittification again if they're using too much computing power)
