Who were the best guest stars, in your opinion, that were willing to take pot shots at themselves?

Basically that. Who were the best guest stars of the series willing to get as goofy as the plot demanded, or willing to take pot shots at themselves, or some combination of the two? My nominees would be everyone in the episode “Homer at the Bat”, and Jackie Mason as Rabbi Hyman Krustofski (“The Jackie Mason? I dunno, sauerkraut makes me gassy.”)

I was mulling over it the other day, and I’m surprised that they hadn’t attempted a reboot/remake of 12 Angry Men, either in its original television format or as a movie. On one hand, I’m glad they hadn’t, yet on the other, that got me thinking, what’s a timeless, or least a movie that you’re surprised that Holly or any of the cinematic Woods hadn’t attempted to remake/rebooted/revived, even if it’s, say, like in 12 Angry Men’s case, in its original format (ie Televison).

(Note: this does not, repeat not, include works that have specific clauses in the creator’s contract that prevents such a thing from occurring, ie Audrey Dimond forbidding any live action adaptations of her husband’s work)

Basically as it says on the tin- are there movies from your childhood that, while on paper should be in your worst-ever list, you can’t bring yourself to hate it no matter how many times you look at it with a critical, adult’s eye? And it can be for any number of reasons, even rose tinted glasses.

For instance, even though it’s on all accounts a terrible movie, I can’t help but love the 1998 Lost in Space movie, one of the defining movies of my childhood. William Hurt’s more than wooden acting (“I love you, wife”) contrasting with Gary Oldman’s over-the-top hamminess and whatever the hell Matt Leblanc was going for, the surprisingly fire techno-dance infused soundtrack, the effects ranging from decent, even cool-looking practical (the Jupiter II and its interior, Robbie, the combat suits) to the hilariously hideous CGI (Spider-Smith and Blawrp), it has evolved into what I consider as “my trash.”

(Note to mods: if this becomes a flame war at any time where users can’t stop bashing each other for their tastes, feel free to lock it.)
