When your professor says your writing “sounds like AI”

I’m genuinely curious how students are supposed to write academically anymore. If you use formal vocabulary, keep your paragraphs organized, avoid slang, and write grammatically correct sentences, suddenly your writing can look “AI-like.” Especially for students who learned English as a second language, formal and structured writing is literally how we were taught to write. At what point does “good academic writing” become suspicious? Has anyone else had Turnitin flag writing that was completely their own?

Followed every rubric guideline, used a translation tool for an old dialect source, and now my professor says my writing style changed completely between drafts. What gives?
