New Rider - Buying a leftover '24 8S did I get a good deal and make a good decision

I took the MSF BRC over the weekend, I live in central PA and they offer the course for free. There were only 2 of us in the course so it went smooth and I not only passed but I did super well and feel very confident. I ordered the same soft cones that the course had and I live close enough to the location that I can go set up and do practice on the course. I looked at a ton of bikes and the 8S felt good and I really liked the ride mode feature so I can use mode C until I am comfortable with the power and everything.

I found a local dealer basically 15 minutes from my place that had several leftover motorcycles. Different brands and different power as well as styles, cruisers, RR bike and naked bikes. I really fell for the 8Sand then we started talking numbers. From what I see the MSRP on these are $8999 and since its new there is freight, T&T, Doc fees to add to that figure.

I tend to be pretty hard on sales people but I really didn't have to do much because the dealer wanted this bike gone. The first presented deal sheet was right at $8k out the door ($7994) which to me seemed like a really good deal. That was basically the bike being sold at $6500 and then the above fees added. We'll I took the BRC and felt good so I knew I was ready to get a bike. I ended up stopping by the dealer and he still had the 8S. The first price given was from mid June. So anyway I hit the sales guy with a request and said give me a better deal and I'll take it, I showed him a comparison of the exact bike at a dealer a few hours away and he said he cant match it exactly but he will get close. Long story short we agreed on a sale price of $7400 out the door. That makes the bike price $5954 plus fees. My credit union already had me approved for more so I got a buyers orders and took it to the bank. I'll be picking up the bike tomorrow once it goes through the shop for final setup (PDI)

Overall I think I did really well on the price and thought I would inquire here not only about the price but also the fact that I'm a new rider.

As a secondary point I am a pretty big guy at 6'-1" and 315lbs and felt like I wanted a little more bike than your typical starter bike that I would get bored with and want to sell and replace in a year. Going with this I'll be able to "grow in to it" and not get bored like I tend to do.
