4Runner and trailer or van

I’m looking to start building an overlanding rig, and curious of any advice people have on overlanding in an suv with a trailer vs a larger vehicle like a van.
It’s me, my wife, 2 dogs and a new born( will probably be 1-2 by the time I have the whole rig built for any big adventures).
I’m thinking I’ll need more space than just a roof top tent and the space inside the vehicle based off a few other road trips we have done.
No super crazy rock climbing or hazardous trails in this rig, but I want it to be capable enough, and not a liability if we get in a sticky situation.
Also I have plenty of experience backing a trailer so that wouldn’t be an issue.
Budget is 25-50k if it matters.

GPS for my kid

I’m looking for an inexpensive gps for my 4 year old to use on our backpacking/hiking trips.
He has figured out how to use my inreach, but after it got dropped and I spent an hour searching for it I think it’s probably smart to get one for him that isn’t my main form of navigation.
It doesn’t have to be good, accurate of fancy. I just want something that. That I can download a route onto, and set way points on the route.
Any suggestions? Most ive seen on google are about 150, and if that’s what the cost is I’ll pay it, just curious if anybody has found a super cheap temu one that actually works decent.

Upgrading a vintage Panasonic bike

I have an old Panasonic bike sitting in the back of my garage. I’ve been thinking about building a bike packing specific rig instead of taking the bags on and off my daily driver every time.

My goals would be upgrade the drive train, switch the shifter from top tube shifter to standard hood style, upgrade wheels with some gravel tires, and possibly upgrade to disc brakes.

Has anybody done a similar build with a vintage bike? Is it feasible? Or should I just spend the money on a salsa journeyer

My budget is 900-3200$. Big gap but I’m willing to spend more than new salsa journeyer would cost, but I don’t wanna spend as much as a brand new warbird.

I have the skills and tools to do just about any custom fabrication needed but I also don’t really want a frankenstein bike that it’s impossible to find parts for at any local bike shop when I’m out on a trip.
