Adding drop bars to folder

Decided to add drop bars to my btwin 560, looks pretty different and gives me more hand positions. Was a straight swap, removed my old toseek flat carbon bars and mounted the drop bars I got from eBay, re used some old bar tape, thankfully there was enough cable length on the brakes and shifters so didn’t need to recable anything…the fold operation hasn’t been impacted but the folded position is now slightly wider which I can live with…still fits in the car boot for my multi mode commute…pretty happy so far with it!

HELP

So I never used a VM22 on a ghost predator 212. I’m having an idle problem I’ve heard this is normal with these hunks on junk. I’ve been told by multiple sources that if I just slap a nibbi on instead of the VM22 that’ll solve my problem. I checked my throttle cable, took apart the carb slid the pin up and also changed main jet with no type of slack on my idle , bike will take off if I’m not holding it very SKETCHY HAHA. haven’t done this full build in a while so I’m kinda rusty chap 😂😏. Iron Sharpens Iron, Steel Sharpens Steel… IM ALL EARS 🤙🏽

Suggestions on 1X and bb

Hello all,

I am looking for suggestions for a 1x drivetrain for a 26” wheel. It’s a trek frame. I want something comfy to cruise around on. Not a ton of big hills around me. But I wanna cruise around with my kid. I’m asking because I know I need a bottom bracket crank and cassette. But I am utterly lost on the tooth numbers and how they apply to me. Thanks for your help you guys!

Best way to source a fork?

Heavily considering purchasing this frame, I already have everything except the bottom bracket and a fork. My question is how hard would it be to get a fork for this bike? I see lots of carbon forks for sale I'm just not sure how to determine if it would fit this frame or not. Is this a good price for a NOS frame?

Commuter/ATB build?

So I’m thinking about buying this Sekine to convert into an all terrain/ commuter rat bike. Anyone familiar with these? I picked one up years ago but ended up getting rid of it. I’m debating buying this or using my old Giant Sedona? Love this pink though 🫠

Safer bike chain link master link VS rivet for watt bombs/racing?

Master link or rivet?

Is one more prone to separating at that link?

Is there one that is more locked in than the other under normal race cycling high watt bombs etc.

the Rivet seems like it would have less of a chance of separating, vs master link is just a easy more consumer market, ease of use for mass consumer base?

Is this the ticket? Rivet is perfectly fine and master link is for mass consumer ease of use for the avg cyclist? Stay with rivets for watt bombing racing?

What you all say?

DIY Motorized Bike Repair Stand

Hi All. First ever post for me. I made a motorized bike stand and it worked out pretty well. The first iteration had a counterweight inside which was good but I added a motor and it's definitely a big improvement.

Here's a short video of it in action: https://youtube.com/shorts/xxaxBPmopz0?feature=share

Parts list below (prices in CAD$).

Metal was all from Metal Supermarket in Burnaby BC. https://www.metalsupermarkets.com/ For the welding I used a cheap Amazon one which I got for $130 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08CBBHFX5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I was keen to learn how to weld and my learnings were that it's pretty easy to stick two pieces of metal together but very hard to make it look good and even harder to do it in a manner that you'd rely on it for safety. I have new found respect for welders! Anyway, my Homer Simpson quality welds are holding up very well and you can make them look much better if you put a flap disc on an angle grinder to clean them up when you're done.

Anyway, this was a fun project and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Replacing crankset

Am trying to replace my front crank set which is a SRAM force gxp set. Took the old crank set off and replaced everything as it was. Wave washer then token bb adaptors, 24 on the drive side and 22 on the other. I can't get the crank far enough through so that the other crank arm will bind to it and screw on. Any tips!?

MTB bike swapping fork, tires and handlebar for gravel set up

I have a mtb bike and want to switch to gravel. This is my current set up, could it work to change the fork for a gravel one and the handle bars for some dropped ones, does the frame geometry work or is it best to try and sell the bike and buy a gravel one?

Is this really a bad idea? Adding drop bar to a hybrid bike.

wrong title, it should be "adding drop bar attachment" like these

So I got a bike for free on Facebook market. It is a schwinn trailway hybrid. It was missing tires, a seat, front brakes, fork headset, and one of the shifters was not working properly. It's fine, I can fix the majority of the problems myself. I just needed help with the shifters and brakes because I wanted to try something with the handles. I wanted to attach drop bars to the handle, add road brakes and inline brakes, and wrap it up with handlebar tape. Why? Because I think it would look cool unique and I want more hand positions. I was going to get new brakes and shifters anyway, so might as well try something Ive always wanted to try...

Well anyway, I brought the bike to 2 different bike shops to get their opinion and they both thought my idea was weird and too much trouble for what I wanted. "Just buy a road bike" they said. Yes I know I would have to install a converter for the v brakes to accept the short brake mechanism of road brakes... But theoretically it should work right? Is this really a stupid idea and not worth the trouble?

Compatibility Check: Shimano CUES 1x (FC-U4000-1 Square Taper) with 1995 Specialized Hardrock (originally 3x7s)

I'm upgrading my 1995 Specialized Hardrock to a ix setup and just got the Shimano CUES FC-U4000-1 (Square Taper) crankset.
Will this bolt directly onto my original square taper bottom bracket without any issues?
I really want to avoid replacing the bottom bracket if possible.
Is it a simple plug-and-play install, or will I run into chainline or clearance problems with the frame?
Thanks!

Road bike build check: compatibility, fit, and part choice

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a lightweight road bike build and would appreciate some feedback on compatibility, part choices, and whether the fit looks too aggressive.

I’m 188 cm tall and planning to go with the XXL / 58 cm frame size. My current bike is more of an endurance setup, while this will be my race bike. The new setup would be roughly 80 mm longer in reach (with 100mm stem) and 40 mm lower in stack/drop than my current bike. I’m considering either an 80 mm or 100 mm stem, likely with around 30 mm of spacers. Does that sound reasonable, or too aggressive?

Estimated total weight: ~6.64 kg

Estimated total cost: ~5,913 €

Planned build:

  • Frame: QuickPro AR XXL frameset, with 0 mm offset seatpost
  • Cockpit: Zephyr-SSL integrated aero cockpit, 38 cm wide, 80–100 mm stem
  • Bottom bracket: SRAM DUB BSA 68/73
  • Crankset: OVERFAST carbon crankset, 170 mm, spider power meter
  • 52/36 Cybrei Carbon Chanrings
  • Front/Rear Derailleur : SRAM Force AXS 2x12
  • Cassette: Neutron Lightweight MK2 12-speed, 11–34T, Shimano HG freehub
  • Chain: Shimano XTR CN-M9100 12-speed
  • Wheels: Particle GCX Hyperlight, 45 mm deep, 25 mm internal / 32 mm external
  • Brakes: SRAM Force hydraulic disc
  • Rotors: KACTUS ultralight, 160 mm front / 140 mm rear
  • Tires: Continental GP 5000, 28 mm

My main questions are:

  1. Does everything look technically compatible?
  2. Is the SRAM Force AXS setup likely to work well with the Neutron 11–34 cassette and Shimano XTR 12-speed chain?
  3. Is the SRAM DUB / BSA bottom bracket setup correct for this frame and crank?
  4. Are the wheels a good modern setup for 28–30 mm tires?
  5. Should I consider deeper/shallower rims? I think 45mm is the allrounder - not too heavy but still aero.
  6. Do any of the ultralight parts look risky from a reliability or safety perspective?
  7. Based on my height and the planned XXL/58 cm frame, does the fit sound reasonable, or am I going too aggressive?

I’m aiming for a lightweight road bike, but I still want it to be practical and reliable rather than a fragile weight-weenie build. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

How do i fix this? Moves freely alot by hand. I tried tightening the crank arm bolt but still moves. The whole chainring moves including the black part that the ring connects to. I also don't know if it's on the right way or backwards. Help me
