Browning Coast Live Oak

I have had a coast live oak sapling in a terra cotta pot for about 2 years. I am coastal SoCal and its gets direly decent direct sun. I know it’s probably not as happy as it would be in the ground, but still giving it a try. It has pushed out new growth several times, typically after a good water. However, I just watered it again and now it’s browning :(

Any tips or ideas?

Thoughts on Guerrilla Gardening?

LA has so many bleak, dead zones — vacant lots, road margins, flood channel edges, under-freeway dirt patches.

Seed bombing gets brought up a lot, but I’m curious about more intentional interventions: actually putting rooted native plants in the ground, maybe doing minimal soil prep or returning to water through establishment.

Been thinking about this a lot and curious on others thoughts. My dream is to just put milkweed wherever I can and watch the monarches take advantage.

SoCal vs Bay Area

Curious about people’s thoughts here!

What’s a better place to blue line for wild trout: the LA/SoCal area or the Bay Area. Photo is from a SoCal blue line.
