Happily married with a 1 year old son. But at least 3-4x a week, my childhood crush shows up in my dreams.
I had a crush on this guy from 1st grade through middle school. Finally accepted it would never happen in high school so we were just friends. Have not spoken to him since we graduated (over 10 years ago), but for the last 3 or 4 years he’s regularly shown up in my dreams. Sometimes he’s just there, sometimes we’re hanging out, but then there are the dreams like the one I had last night, and thus the reason for this post.
Last night I dreamt that we had actually had a relationship in the past and were rekindling it. He admitted that he had always felt as strongly as I had for him, but he couldn’t act on it. It was to the point in my dream that when I became pregnant with my son, I had doubt on if he was actually my husband’s child or if it was my crush’s. I remember sending a text message to a friend in the dream even saying “I don’t want \[SON\] to be \[HUSBAND\]’s child” (which is not at all how I feel IRL).
When I woke up this morning, I felt like I had awoken in an alternate reality. Like the dream I just left was the real world and this world wasn’t real. On top of that, my chest literally ached with yearning for my childhood crush and the life we had in my dream. I had to lay in bed for 15 minutes trying to come back to earth and remind myself that this is the real world. Even as I type this, 30 minutes post-dream, I still feel achy in my chest.
All that to say, what could that possibly even mean?? And more importantly, how do I get him to stop showing up??? Again, we have not spoken in over 10 years. We’re not even friends on Facebook! Thanks in advance.
