This is a “best of Reddit” moment for me—finding others who can understand what has been a very private experience. My dad was autistic and it’s been a major factor in my life (both good and bad). I have never met anyone else in the same boat (except my sister, but she’s autistic too so she has a completely different experience). I’m very glad to be here!

I didn’t really realize what a profound influence it had on me until I was talking with a therapist about my challenges with relationships and said “maybe it has something to do with my dad being autistic.” She looked me dead in the eye and said “YA THINK?”

Just turned 50 and finally have retired my matte lipsticks. They just don’t look flattering any more.
