Anyone want to share some statistics or facts they know about sexism against women and girls?
Thought I'd post this, since I've been looking at research on sexism recently and came upon a study showing that high-achieving resumes with women-associated names get less callbacks than high-achieving resumes with men-associated names. I enjoy sharing research about how women are perceived in society: For example, the UN Women organization occasionally publishes a Gender Gap Report, and the 2023 report indicated that roughly 85% of people globally (around 86% of men, 83% of women) are against women having equal rights and opportunities (e.g., for education, work, not being pregnant). Another statistic I know is that approximately 38% of murdered women are killed by intimate partners, in contrast to 6% of men.
Living in a patriarchy, lots of truths are hushed up when inconvenient, so here's your chance to share them. Any facts or stats you know about how women are treated that you think should be more widely known?
