Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG Horizontal Gray Banding

Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG Horizontal Gray Banding

repost original post (created this new post to add a photo and explain more details)

Hi everyone,

I bought the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQWMG yesterday, and overall I’m actually really happy with the monitor and the purchase.

However, I noticed some horizontal gray banding on the panel, especially at certain brightness levels (most noticeable around 70%~95% gray). The bands stay in the exact same position and don’t move. I took this photo at 80% gray.

What surprises me is that I usually only see people talking about vertical gray banding with this monitor, not horizontal banding.

I’ve already run the monitor’s Pixel Cleaning several times, but unfortunately it hasn’t made any noticeable difference.

I can also notice the horizontal grey banding in games, especially in the RDR2 prologue in the dark, snowy environment, where the overall image naturally appears grey.

Is this something that can be considered normal panel uniformity and something I should just get used to, or would you recommend exchanging/returning the monitor?

I came across another Reddit post where the LG G5 also showed horizontal grey banding, and some people in the comments said that it becomes less noticeable after around 100 hours or can even disappear completely. Is that actually true?

Thanks in advance!

Will the i7 8700k bottleneck the rtx 5070?

Hey everyone, I currently have an MSI Z370 Tomahawk motherboard with an i7-8700K, 32GB RAM, and a GTX 1080 Ti, and I’m thinking about upgrading to an RTX 5070 mainly for Forza Horizon 6. Do you think this setup would still work well together, or would the 8700K bottleneck the 5070 too much? I'm playing at 1440p. I also currently have a 600W PSU. Would that still be enough for an RTX 5070, or should I upgrade to a 650W/750W PSU as well?

Thanks in advance :)
