Small hole repair in my partners dress.

My partner caught her favorite dress on something, leaving about a 1-inch tear. Instead of trying to hide it, I decided to turn it into a flower.
The repair has a white cotton backing patch behind the dress for strength. I chose white intentionally because the dress already has tiny white flowers printed all over it. My hope was that if any of the backing showed through the embroidery, it would blend into the existing pattern instead of looking like a random patch.
The flower itself is stitched in a yellow thread that’s close to the dress color, so it feels like it belongs there without shouting for attention.
I also didn’t own an embroidery hoop, so I made one from two plastic cup rims held together with four binder clips. It actually worked much better than I expected and kept the fabric taut throughout the repair.
This is my first attempt at visible mending, so I’d love any feedback or tips for the next one!
