Mid session, how do you actually find the sound you need?

Following up from my last post about sample libraries. Now I’m even more curious, when you’re mid session and need a specific sound, how do you actually find it? And how long does it take? Does hunting for sounds ever kill your flow or is it just part of the process at this point?

How do you actually manage your sample library ?

I’ve been producing for some while and I’ve come across the problem some times.

My sample library is all over the place different drives, random pack folders, Splice downloads dumped everywhere. Mid-session when I need a specific type of sound I end up either spending 20 minutes digging or just giving up and using something familiar.

Curious how other producers actually handle this
