Graduate Med
Hello!
This is my first time on Reddit honestly, but I heard people here give real good advice, so I’ll take my chances and hope someone helps me out.
I’m 21, moved to the UK 3 years and applied to Radiography in both London South Bank University and City & St.George University, but got a foundation year in City (Because I only have Level 2 math) (didn’t have the time to study GCSE math). You might be wondering what does this have to do with Graduate med, but my plan long term is to apply to Med and become a doctor, but my fall back plan if I change my mind is to become a radiographer, but with the state of the NHS and the job freezes, with graduate doctors not even earning spots, and the fact that studying for that long is excruciating and just plain hard, I’m worried I won’t not only have the discipline to do it, but that I won’t be smart enough to do it.
I’d like to think that radiography would be a good pay, but I also feel like I’ll quickly get bored of the job, I truly want to help people in ways more, and it may sound corny, but I just want to be able to make a change too.
I’d like to know what it’s like for other graduate medicine students? What’s the best approach for me to take? Do you think it was worth it?
Any opinion would greatly be appreciated!
(I’d also love to know what the entry requirements is like, or what it was like to take the UCAT/GAMSAT and how to study for it)
