Pretend a hypothetical No.7 collabs project gets announced. 15 collabs but has to be with no one he’s collab’d on a studio song with before… who would you want?

Just a fun game! Imagine the scenario Ed announced a No.7 collaborations project (which by the way I know he said he has no plans to do it again due to the headache of logistics hahah, just for fun!)

For fun, who are 15 artists Ed has never collaborated with on an official studio song (Ed writing for them doesn’t count or playing live with them - just strictly studio songs) and for extra interesting results, it can’t be anyone he’s already collaborated with before. Who would you want to see?

No. 6 has 15 tracks, so let’s assume No.7 if it ever happened has 15 also… I’ll start.

- Noah Kahan

- Olivia Rodrigo

- Stevie Wonder

- Zac Brown Band

- Zach Bryan

- Harry Styles

- Shawn Mendes

- Dominic Fike

- Bad Bunny

- Adele

- Djo

- Charlie Puth

- Kendrick Lamar (I know they had a song called Butterfly but it was never released!)

- Thomas Rhett

- Mike Posner

Who do you got??

What do you think the next year will look like news-wise?

Lengthy post! Sorry

We’re in a little bit of an unknown territory right now with Ed having stepped away from his label and also stating that the Loop Tour is his last tour “for awhile”.

However in a recent concert (I think it was either Nashville or Chicago?) he clarified that he’s still going to be making music just particularly NOT touring for awhile after the Loop Tour which makes me think he’s implying the next album isn’t going to be years down the road and maybe heard the speculation from fans after his prior comments from an earlier concert.

We know he made Rewind and Play together and Rewind was very close to being finished before he shelved it and started anew on another record (could be a new version of Rewind or maybe another symbol) - he teased Rewind was originally intended for 2026, but likely plans have since changed so we’re probably looking at 2027 at the earliest for a new album, which gives Play more breathing room

Will he remain an independent artist? Will he sign to a different record label? I’ve heard tons of speculation. I personally don’t think he’ll remain an independent artist - I think (not starting rumors!) personally Atlantic dropped the ball on Play and maybe Ed thought the same. From the fall release date when everyone expected summer, lengthy album campaign that started in March and the album wasn’t until September, to the post-album changes (specifically Heaven) which Ed confirmed he doesn’t like touching albums after they’re released and this was the first time it ever happened - presumably a demand from Atlantic.

Apparently they (Warner) also have dropped the ball on Maisie Peters new album, pushing it back to many times, to the point where she called them out on it.

I think it will be interesting to see if Ed remains independent a year from now or if he’ll be under a new record label. I know a lot of people say Ed can do it on his own, and while he is popular, record labels take on so much responsibility that I just don’t think he’s going to do any “mainstream/blockbuster” albums independently (AV was not a mainstream album, per ed’s words)

Based off his words - he plans to keep making music, so I wonder if the next album will come out and be a second supported album by the Loop Tour. Maybe he’ll do Pause instead of Rewind as a good “stopping tour” album? He’s said in the past that if he could release music more frequently he would but again labels hold him back. Could he take this opportunity to give us more songs? Maybe the opportunity to drop OG Subtract? Or maybe he wants to craft another big album and would rather hold his cards close until it’s ready. SO many possibilities.

Will he do anything for Divide next year? The biggest album he ever made turns 10 next March. I presume he’ll do another 10 year show for Divide. It would be cool to get some of the unreleased Divide songs from the vault but now that he’s not with Atlantic and he never did it with Plus or Multiply, probably not happening.

There’s so many questions - but I do think it’s super exciting to be a fan right now. Whatever he does will be super interesting and I can’t wait to see how he goes about new music.

What do you think the next year will look like for Ed?

Edit: to clarify too - if Ed DOES just want to put everything on hold then that’s fine too! Family first - this is just a discussion thread!

It would be nice if the song request forms were weighted based on popularity

Anyone else agree? I feel like songs like Supermarket Flowers, Tenerife Sea, etc (all of which are bangers, not at ALL saying otherwise) get sort of an unfair advantage to other deep cuts simply based on their popularity.

I see people hoping for deep cut songs from albums/EP like No.5, Songs I wrote with amy, etc. but it’s gotta be tough for those songs to win when majority of the audience (general public) knows songs from Divide and Multiply the most.

It would be cool (imo) if they had a little handicap for less known songs so they still have a chance to be played when going up against songs that are really popular but not on the set list.

Of course this is just my opinion and realistically he should play the songs that majority are voting for since they’re paying hahaha.

But it would be nice to see some true deep cuts (Be Like You, Homeless, Be Right Now, Cold Coffee, Regrets… etc) have a better chance since they’re inherently disadvantaged due to not being as known

Favorite and least favorite songs performed on the loop pedal?

I thought this would be a fun discussion. What’s your favorite and least favorite song performed on the loop pedal?

I think my favorite songs on the loop pedal are: Bloodstream, Castle on the Hill, Don’t, Sing, and Tenerife Sea

My least favorite probably has to be Sapphire. I absolutely love the song but (in my opinion) loses its umph the studio version has when it’s performed live. I also (personally) don’t really like the usage of samples in the loop and preferred when Ed made the loop solely from his guitar.

Of course, everyone is different! What’s yours?

(I know he filled in for an act last year - but he wasn’t a headline)

I think Ed would be a perfect candidate for a Coachella headliner. So many goers last year said Ed was one of their favorite performers and many of them who said that also said they weren’t even originally Ed fans.

Divide’s 10 year is next year as well, and I assume by next year at this time we will be either in the next album era or getting pretty dang close to it.

Look at what Coachella did for Justin Bieber, while his career obviously wasn’t in a bad place, his songs have completely been revitalized and they’re dominating streaming (Beauty and a Beat at #1 on spotify, Sorry, Love Yourself, Confident, etc all back charting in the top 50)

I think if Ed played next year he would be able to benefit in a similar fashion to Justin and I think we’d see so many Ed songs be rediscovered by younger audiences and also people who just haven’t heard him in a looong time. I always see people post Ed’s music on TikTok for example and comments are always like: “Wow I forgot about this banger” when referring to songs like Don’t, Castle on the Hill and Sing.

It would be a GREAT way to revitalize Divide’s big hits and also hype up/promote Play or the next album (Rewind).

So yeah, I think Ed should headline next year at Coachella
