Reality check - $200k at 26

Just turned 26, paid off all my student loans (no other debt to speak of), and have exceeded $200k NW… burning out at my tech job and craving a break but anxious about the future.

High level breakdown of the numbers:

Income:
- $130k USD(fully remote from LCOL area)
- Just started cat sitting on the side for a few hundred extra bucks a month.

Savings:
Bank: $33,000
401k: $139,000
Roth IRA: $24,000
HSA: $17,000

Expenses: $3000 / month

My goals with Coast FIRE:
To me, reaching coast FIRE would give me the financial and psychological safety net to explore alternative career paths, maybe take a gap year to experiment and figure out what’s next. I was a hardcore student through high school and college — graduated early then immediately entered into the tech industry at a very lucky time in the market.

5 years later and I’ve reached a senior level but consider this my personal limit in terms of how far I want to climb on the corporate ladder. AI has introduced a new degree of existential dread to my day to day that I’m finding increasingly exhausting to tolerate.

However… my employer has just announced that they’ll begin offering the mega backdoor option, and with my student loans gone, I could significantly increase my savings next year.

What number is reasonable to aim for before pulling the trigger and actually taking a sabbatical? Am I being foolish for even considering this option, especially given the job prospects in tech?

Fluffy cat!

Cloud cat is finished and displayed proudly! Will post better photos on my Instagram but I always share here first 😅. The colors don’t really pick up well on camera but hopefully you like him!!!

WIP - Cloud Cat! Sister piece to Space Cat

Wanted to make a daytime themed companion for my previous mosaic, Space Cat. This one has taken me almost twice as long but hopefully is getting to the point of starting to look like a cloud 😂. I feel like I don’t celebrate long haired cats enough so wanted to capture lots of puffiness and fluffiness which is a little hard to do with glass lol

To grout or not to grout????

Just finished this magical space cat and I’m so happy with it!!! Before I cut him out, I’m trying to decide whether to grout or not. Maybe a translucent grout could be cool? Need outside opinions lol.

Friend asked for a mosaic of their favorite band’s album cover!

Not perfect but did my best with the materials I had haha — hopefully she enjoys!

Red 2020 Premier, 22k miles, 3 owners, original battery, Florida dealership - $17.5k OTD

Orange 2020 Premier, 97k miles, 1 owner, replaced battery with about 50k miles left on warranty (or until 2031), Carvana - $16.9k OTD

I posted before that I would’ve loved to stay around $16k OTD, but am indeed finding it difficult at this time in the market.

If I can get the dealer with the red Bolt to match the Carvana deal, perhaps that’s the way to go considering I’m already stretching my budget. That $17.5k is absolutely loaded up with the usual junk fees. They originally quoted me at $18.1K OTD, the salesperson got down to that $16.9k mark, but now their manager bumped it back to $17.5k.

I guess it really comes down to the mileage. Is the 75k difference worth an extra $600 plus more dealer bullying to buy warranties and all that? Or is a higher mileage Carvana car with the 7 day return window the better option.

Would love any advice 🙏.
