Has anyone here been caught riding without a supervisor while on their learner licence?

I recently got my learner motorcycle licence a few weeks ago, but I don’t really have anyone available to supervise me when I want to ride. I’ve been doing very short practice rides early in the morning (around 6–7am) and staying within a few kilometres of my house just to build confidence.

I’m curious if anyone has been in a similar situation and ended up getting stopped while riding unsupervised, and what the outcome was?

Also wondering how strictly this is enforced in practice, especially for low-risk situations like quiet roads and short, local rides?

Just got my RE learner’s and picked up a 2021 Duke 390 yesterday as my first bike!

I’m based in Brisbane and looking for a good riding jacket in the $250–$350 range. Ideally something I can use year round and happy/planning to layer up in winter if needed.

Any brand or specific brand or model recommendations? Also keen to hear what to avoid. Is this a good enough budget or am I wasting money at this price range? Thanks!

I’ve just got my learners licence in QLD and I’m looking at buying a used KTM Duke 390 privately.

Because I’m on my Ls, the seller understandably doesn’t want to let me test ride it, even just down the street. I did have a mate with a licence who I was going to bring along to ride it for me, but he’s just moved away, so that’s no longer an option.

My plan was to go inspect the bike myself, check the usual stuff (logbook, fluids, leaks, chain, electrics, etc.), and listen to it idle/rev. If everything looks good, I’d organise transport to get it delivered to my place rather than riding it.

If it all checks out otherwise, would you go ahead and buy it? Or is it a bad idea to buy a bike without test riding it?

Feels like the logistics on a learners licence make this pretty tricky, since I’d need a fully licensed rider to supervise, and I don’t really have anyone available to help at the moment.
