I’m a student living in Mernda who travels to Bundoora 4 days a week. I’ve always wanted a bike but whenever I ask someone they tell me to get a car first as it would be more convenient. I didn’t have a bike back in my home country but had friends with bikes, and I thoroughly enjoyed riding.

My two main concerns right now are the weather, I’m willing to give up on the luggage inconvenience. Second is gear,safety is extremely important but I like the jackets and shoes I have. I know this is dumb, but I’m still a little sore about this.

I’d like some perspective from people already doing this.

A couple mates and I have Yamaha Beewee’s and looking to do a decent road trip somewhere in vic. We’re currently in the market for a small Jerry can to fit under seat or in my case in my 30L givi top box. I can’t seem to find something around 1-3L just to get out of trouble if needed.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or have a link they could share? :)

So I find the marlboro and camel liveries on bikes to look dope, but tobacco liveries are illegal in Australian motorsports.

However, is it legal to ride a bike that has one of those liveries on it, or could I apply a custom livery (say putting the yellow camel on a M1 or R1, or Marlboro on a 2000's/2010's ducati)?

Just calculated how much I spend on mine, I probably overspend a little.

Gears including accessories = $2.600
Bike and all the paperwork = $5.250
Maintenance stuff = $1.000
Total = $8.850

Honestly I didn't expect how expensive it would be, but at the end of the day I'm planning to take a good care of my bike and get good gears from head to toe to protect myself. So everything's worth it.

Just finished my pre learner course today and debating what to get. Cb300, 300nk and 450nk are front runner ICE bikes. But I'm considering electric.

The options I'm considering are:

- Fonz NKD. Service centre nearby, removable battery for easy charging. Seems to be reliable.

- leki bolt. Concerns over serviceability, don't know about the reliability either.

- Super Soco TCMax - since vmoto don't have an Australian presence anymore, I'm a bit concerned over viability of it.

- Demo Kawasaki e1. Heard really mixed things here

What should I buy? Commuting under 25 minutes, regional QLD (Sunshine Coast), minimal traffic on a Triumph TT600 with riding jeans. Weekend rides out into the hinterland but my track days are long gone so I am not pushing the limits of anything, just enjoying the twisties. Work is casual dress but will likely just have a pair of shoes at work to slip on. Don't want a full race boot but want more than a riding sneaker for protection but also something I can go to the supermarket in and walk around without discomfort. Both seem pretty much suitable, anyone use either or something else that ticks the same boxes?

I was on a 100kmh country road. But the visibility wasn’t so good due to lots of crests, I’m a new rider and the potholes were really bad. Any faster felt like I might lose control. I was doing about 70-90 on the turns/crests and 100 on straight runs. This jeep was riding so close behind me. There was nowhere to pull off. 

Has anybody had any luck importing a brand new Honda XR650L?

I’ve pretty much bought everything needed, torque wrench, sprockets, chain, Bike stand, angle grinder etc.. All i’m missing is a riveting tool… Is there any riveting tool any of you who do your own chain change stand by? I honestly don’t know if i should cheap out and get one of those amazon $35 ones or do i rly need to go the mile and get those $200+ motion pro tools… It seems crazy how much more expensive those are…
Btw I have a 525 Pitch chain that needs to be removed and the new one riveted on. Or did I waste my money and was just better off going to a shop and getting it done cuz one of the shops told me it’s like $180 just for the labour… Although I needed the sprockets and wrench’s anyways as I plan to do my own fluid changes.

Should I pull the trigger on the Pactalk pro? It’s currently $463 on Amazon and I’ll be getting my full license in a few weeks. Is it worth it? Anything better I can get? Also any recommendations for a phone mount? (iPhone 16 pro)

Thinking about getting a dash cam on my R7, a simple front and rear camera without navigation would do the job. Got few in mind, what would you recommend and how was the installation process?

I know this has probably been asked a few times here, but I’ve just been shopping around for CTP for my 2009 Iron 883, and the cheapest quote I could find was $916.

I’m 25+, have a full licence, no demerit points and no previous claims, and I live fairly close to the city. Is everyone paying this much for motorcycle CTP these days? At this rate, I feel like it’ll be touching $1,000 by next year.
