Downshifting???

Hey guys, teaching myself manual and I can’t seem to get the downshift timing right. I don’t want to wait so long that it stalls but when I try to downshift it won’t always go in gear and I’m not trynna grind gears. (I wait for the revs to get to 1k - 1.5k before trying to downshift. If I wait longer the car will start to shudder) My understanding is that you shouldn’t force it in to gear - if you’re at the right rpm it should just ‘fall’ into gear.

Do I need to revmatch? Am I to fast for the gear I want to select? I’m paying attention more to the tac than the speedo when shifting.

Any tips + info to help me understand what I’m doing wrong is greatly appreciated. Also any drills I can do? I don’t want to coast in neutral so please don’t recommends that. I want to be able to go down in gears one by one.

Free food when dieting

Literally why is it the moment you tell people you’re on a diet they decide it’s a great time to buy you food or give you food. Never healthy food!! Always junk food. Like I’m trying my best not to give in as it is, using every ounce of will I have and now people want to give me food? Why does this happen???

(I’m angry cos I accepted the food 😭😭)

Car wont start, heating issue?

Hey guys, posting here because surely there are some mechanics here who can help.

So the car starts fine when cold but after running for about 10 - 15 minutes and turning it off (in my case stalling) it wont start again. The issue seems to be the engine is warm. It’ll crank but wont turn over. If I let it sit for a bit I guess cooling it down it’ll start again like normal. The car runs on diesel.

Is there anything I can do as someone with extremely little mechanical knowledge to identify and potentially fix the issue? Or am I best off going to a mechanic.

I bought the car dirt cheap off a friend to learn manual. (I was already aware of this issue before buying.) Wouldn’t mind trying to learn how to fix some things on my own

Decided to order these two during a two month wait for a gold a1100 (and two other casios) only for that order to be stolen 😞. Honestly devastated, I wanted to have all three only for the one that started it not to arrive

Post your a1100s!!!

Stolen Parcel (advice? + rant)

Hi guys, so as the title suggests my parcel was stolen. My parcel that was supposed to be signed for. It was left under the stairwell at entrance of units. Signature aside, in what world is a common area a safe place???

I have been waiting TWO MONTHS for this parcel. Whats even worse is that I have a ring camera which didn’t even capture the postie, meaning this lazy fucker didn’t even bother to come to my door. I am FUMING. This was a $400 order!

What’s everyone’s experience with stuff like this? Do I get a refund or will they get the shop to send out replacements? What timeline should I expect for this to be resolved? It had shipping protection and I have already made a claim.

Learning manual

Looking for tips and tricks for driving manual car. I already ride a manual bike so I understand the mechanics and basics but a car obviously requires a bit more co-ordination. Im struggling mainly on timing the downshifts, for example today I tried to shift down into first at to high of a gear and well it didn’t sound good 😭

Pls give me any advice or tips, stuff you wish you were told! I’m going to be teaching myself so yeah anything helps.

How to change lanes 101

Step 1. Indicate
Step 2. Check Mirrors
Step 3. Check your blind spot
Step 4. Proceed IF SAFE TO DO SO

Edit: (Step 1 can also be done after Step 3 - its a matter or personal preference JUST INDICATE)

Don’t:
- Veer into the lane before Step 4 (and especially not before Step 1)
- Not use your indicator
- Change lanes into a heavy vehicles safety gap without enough warning and if you know you will need to stop soon (especially if the road is wet)
- Do whatever you can to get in front of a heavy vehicle only to go slower than the speed they were going.
- Brake or slow down if there is no need too before changing lanes. (Learners get a pass on this one)
- Not wave if someone has let you in
- Push your way in if someone isn’t letting you in.
- Brake suddenly after changing lanes
- Leave your indicator on after changing lanes. (L and P motorbike riders get a pass on this one)
- Keep the same speed as a car in the lane you want to change into and then expect them to slow down or speed up. It’s your lane change, take the initiative.
- Lastly, don’t be afraid to slow down and get in BEHIND a car or heavy vehicle. You don’t have to be first, it’s not Mario Cart.

Hope this helps.

When I (f27) was 15 my best friend had an older boyfriend. (Wont go into his age at this stage). I was starting to dabble with weed and alcohol around the time and one night we were all together and he had mdma which we all did. It was my first time, but they had already done it before. Later on in the night while I was peaking he had started to touch me. Groping my bum, mind you in front of my friend. I didn’t really think about it as weird or odd at first, actually I think i kind of liked it? A little bit later he started to touch my parts with his foot.. same thing until i snapped out of it and was basically like wtf is happening. I didn’t know how to say anything, just froze. I gave my friend a look like ‘no, i dont want this’ and she told him to stop and he did. We never really talked about it after.

For the longest time I thought it was my fault because I didn’t stop him as soon as it started. I’m only just now coming to terms with it even being sexual assault. Where do i go from here? I know professional help is obviously the best option but how do i even go about that? (Australia) I still feel guilt and that its somewhat my fault. I also feel like I betrayed my friend that night. At the same time I resent her for even bringing this person in to my life, although I know thats ridiculous. The worst part is that I continued to hang out with them for the next 4 years, just completely ignoring what happened and pretending like it never did happen. I’ve never actually talked to anyone about this and I’ve been thinking about it a lot more lately so i guess i just wanted to get it off my chest. Any help is appreciated.

Dropped my bike this morning cos I didn’t put my kickstand down properly 🤦‍♀️

I have a 2017 cbr500r and I’m trying to find the part for the engine cover on bikebiz. I want to see if it’s worth replacing as it’s now a bit more scratched up than I’d like to see. Anyone know what ‘assembly’ thats under?
