Paid extra for express post but got delayed - any chance of a refund as the receiver of a package?

I bought a gift for someone last week and paid express post as I need it by Friday, and it said it would be delivered within 2-4 days. It was meant to be delivered yesterday but today I woke up to “your parcel has been delayed” emails and this delayed marker on the parcel in the auspost app.

I paid the extra $7 or whatever it was for express specifically because I needed it on/before Friday - if it doesn’t arrive by then is there any way I can seek out a partial refund for the delivery cost so I’m only paying for the standard delivery instead of express, given that they’ve now said it could be up to 5 business days late (more than double the original estimated time with express post)? I know it’s only $7 but I’m a student on a very tight budget.

When I’ve looked it up I’ve seen things about senders of express post packages being able to get refunds if the package is delayed, but nothing about whether receivers of express post packages can. Thanks in advance!

Parcel sent to 247 Parcel Locker delivered to LPO

I just had a parcel that I put a 247 Parcel locker as the address, and they’ve delivered it straight to the LPO. Why on earth do they do this? What’s the point of having a 247 Parcel Locker option if they don’t even deliver it there?

First time I have tried to deliver it there and was loving the idea of the convenience but now I probably won’t be able to collect the parcel before it gets returned to sender (as I can usually only get there Saturdays and I’m working this Saturday morning).

Soooo frustrated!

Ah yes ‘today’

Not really a complaint but how the hell do you mess this up? I would just think it’s coming early but it’s 6pm so I doubt it actually is coming today.

You guys suck with your "attempted" deliveries.

Got an email saying we "attempted to deliver your package" and no one was in attendance. The gate was open, 2 people were home, 2 cars in the driveway. There is no attempted photo delivery and my security system didn't even see you. I have 2 cameras facing the front yard I had people leave 10 mins before the "attempted delivery" and my cameras saw them fine. Its almost like you guys didn't even try to get out of the damn van. Now I have to wait all day for your stupid diver to finish his run before I can get my package. 10/10 would not use you guys again.

The genius of no-booking for passport applications...

I walk into my local post office at 10.30 this morning hoping to get some passport photos taken. At the counter are a lady and her baby having their passport applications processed by a staff member. To the left of the counter are two other ladies waiting, one in a nurses uniform, clutching what are clearly passport applications.

I think I know how this will play out but decide I'll wait and see.

The staff member finishes with the lady and her baby and looks at me and I look over at the other two ladies waiting.

"Those two are passports", she says waving at them like she is trying to swat a fly.

I explain that I would like to have some passport photos taken. She tells me I'll have to wait behind "those two" and starts serving the man waiting in the lengthy queue forming behind me.

Cheers AusPost - great system you've got there!

Australia Post Express Brisbane → Perth stuck in NSW (Parkes) — what happens next?

Hey everyone,

I sent a parcel via Australia Post Express from Brisbane on Monday at 9:15am. It was meant to be Brisbane → Perth (next business day service).

Tracking history shows:
*1. Lodged at Fortitude Valley (Brisbane)*
*2. Processed at Brisbane facility*
*3. In transit from Redbank QLD*
*4. Arrived at Parkes NSW at 4:18am Friday*

Status now says: “Delayed - waiting to be processed for delivery”

It’s now Friday and I know there won’t be normal Express Post movement over the weekend.
I’m confused because I expected Brisbane
→ Perth, but it’s gone through multiple hubs including NSW.

Has anyone had Express Post parcels go through Parkes NSW before on the way to Perth? What usually happens from here — does it still go out Monday, or is this likely a delay?

Thanks in advance.

“express” delivery

shipped a package to someone on sunday evening using express post, i didn’t expect that it would go anywhere until monday but assumed it would probably get there tuesday at the latest (it was processed sunday night)

it’s now (technically) friday and it’s still not even in the correct state (it’s going to victoria from qld, it’s in nsw right now), yet meanwhile a package i shipped on monday also to victoria without express arrived on thursday 🙄

it’s annoying me so much cause it’s more expensive to ship express yet clearly the express is nowhere to be found since it’s most likely not arriving until monday at the earliest (a whole week after it was shipped)

is there anything i can do about it or do i have to just be patient and wait?

Why am I seeing this suddenly? (Last three deliveries).

Hi. The last three parcel deliveries I’ve been getting this notification. At least one has been from a company I buy from every three months or so, nothing has changed my end. Why suddenly can’t AP match details. I’ve logged in to the website and double checked all my details. Nothing has changed. Thanks.

Can’t find my parcel

Ordered something from eBay. Was supposed to arrive today. I got a message saying that it was delivered and then I go down and check, I don’t see anything. Even the guy didn’t wring the door bell..

I’ve raised a complaint.

🚨 FedEx Stole My iPhone? 🚨

⚠️** FedEx is scamming people. Be careful**. ⚠️
It’s been over a month since my iPhone 17 Pro disappeared while in FedEx’s possession.
Since then, I’ve received nothing but the same scripted response:
“We’ll update you once an update is available.”
FedEx has opened multiple cases, but they never provide any actual updates.
❌ No explanation.
❌ No refund.
❌ No update to the merchant.
❌ No accountability.
At this point, it feels like my iPhone was stolen while in FedEx’s custody, and FedEx refuses to take responsibility or provide any meaningful information.
If you’re shipping expensive electronics with FedEx, think twice. Document everything and be prepared for endless delays and no answers if something goes wrong.
Has anyone else had a package disappear with FedEx? Share your experience below.
