Postage held by Customs in China

Can anyone that’s been in a similar situation provide some advice or help please?

I shipped clothes to a clothing manufacturer in China, it was not a sale. However it’s been a few weeks now and has been held by customs.

Unsure what to do now, auspost said it is out of their control and I’ll have to contact customs. I asked the receiver to see if they can do anything about it but they aren’t able to help either.

I didn’t receive any email, text or call from customs.

Purchased a used Pixoo 64, can’t set it up.

Hi,

I purchase a Divoom Pixoo 64 from marketplace.

When I plug the device in, I get the normal Divoom Home Screen and then it automatically switches to a wifi page that says “connecting” and then it just randomly starts displaying different artwork.

I hold down the power button for 8 seconds, but it asks me if I want to factory reset sd card. When I press yes, nothing happens - it just goes back to displaying artwork.

I’ve tried everything to connect it to the app but I can’t even get the device to display the wifi “waiting to configure” page.

What can I do? Any ideas?

Question about Parental Leave Pay work test for a sole trader

My wife is currently pregnant, with our baby due on 26 January 2027. We’re trying to understand the Parental Leave Pay work test because the rules are a little confusing.

My wife is a sole trader/self-employed and runs her own business. She is planning to stop working 13 weeks before the due date so she can prepare for the baby.

From what I understand, to qualify for Parental Leave Pay, you generally need to have worked 10 out of the 13 months before the birth, as well as meeting the 330-hour requirement and the other eligibility criteria.

Services Australia confirms that self-employed work can count towards the work test.
My concern is that if she stops working 13 weeks before the due date, would that mean she doesn’t meet the 10-out-of-13-month requirement?

Based on my understanding, she would have worked approximately 9 months and 3 weeks during the relevant period if she stops 13 weeks before the due date.

If that’s the case, she could potentially keep working for another 1–2 weeks to make sure she satisfies the 10-month requirement, but obviously we’d rather understand the rules properly before making that decision.

NOTE:

We have an appointment booked with Services Australia next week, so we’re going to get official clarification from them as well.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, particularly as a sole trader/self-employed person? Does stopping work 13 weeks before the due date actually cause an issue with the 10-month work test, or am I misunderstanding how the 10 out of 13 months is calculated?

Thanks!

Making payment to manufacturer via SWIFT.

I came across a clothing brand that’s been making some pretty cool clothes. They accidentally made a post that had the logo of their Chinese manufacturer in the background of a video.

I contacted that manufacturer and have ordered a sample with them for one of my designs. The manufacturer is on alibaba but I reached them directly from their website.

When I was asked to make payment for the sample, they only accepted payment via SWIFT/Bank transfer.

I paid for the sample using this but I’m a little concerned with the bulk order. Not because they will scam me, just concerned that I won’t be protected if I receive the bulk order and they turn out worse than the sample.

What should I do? This is the first time I’ll be doing a bulk order if the sample is good.

Music in ads.

Hi, I’m curious to know how some businesses get away with popular songs in their ads (eg. Drake, Kendrick Lamar etc) when they are clearly not in the meta library and purchasing the rights to use those songs would cost a fortunate?

Is there a way around this? I’ve never run ads before but will be starting soon and wanted to know how some smaller brands/businesses are getting away with it.

Klaviyo sign up form.

Hi All,

I’m new to shopify and klaviyo, trying to get my head around how to integrate klaviyo.

I have a website that’s currently locked. What I want is to keep it locked and collect sign ups (emails and sms).

My question is, is it better to use the default theme that I purchased to collect email or should I used an embedded page from klaviyo?

What’s the difference if I just use shopify and not klaviyo?

Essentially they both collect the same details.

My shopify theme looks cleaner and more aesthetic but the klaviyo one looks generic and boring.

Thank you

What’s is happening with Instagram?

I am seeing many creators, businesses, or accounts in general now switching to private or disabling comments.

This is becoming a common thing I’m noticing now.

Are creators and users turning off comments or switching to private to avoid the risk of being banned by instagrams AI for no reason as many people have reported?
