This is why Hexagons is a landmark song by Muse

With Hexagons, Muse successfully bridges the gap between the band's two major periods, something that hadn't happened so naturally since The 2nd Law.

The difference with many post-2012 albums is that Hexagons doesn't sound like a collage of ideas: the track recaptures the melancholy and "cosmic" feel of early Muse while retaining the production power of modern Muse.

Where recent albums often abruptly separated styles, I find that Hexagons finally fuses them seamlessly.

For example, the progressive 6/4 time signature is typical of the creative ideas of OOS or Absolution,

And there are the big, heavily saturated synths reminiscent of Simulation Theory or 2nd Law.

For me, this is the first Muse track to perfectly reconcile fans of the first era (Showbiz to Resistance) and fans of the second (The 2nd Law to WOTP).

This is quite a historic moment because I feel that with The Wow! Signal, Muse has found its ultimate musical evolution. The original and the new formula together, improved.

Is MK Ultra an underrated song ?

I was listening to MK Ultra recently and wondering why it wasn't more popular? The riff is catchy from the first few seconds! This is a classic Muse !

Maybe it's the lyrics and the song's message that are disturbing?

(Probably the most conspiracy-minded/Resistance-tier song) ever released?

Hexagons ending sound

The sound you hear at the very end of "Hexagons" reminds the sound of a pulsar, a star spinning extremely fast.

The pulsar is also the most likely candidate for the origin of the Wow! signal.

It's possible that Muse referenced this theory.

What do you think?
