New ED RN at a Trauma 1 Hospital

Hiii! I’m going from outpatient GI surgery (pre/intra/postop) to a Trauma 1 ED with no ED experience and barely any hospital experience (less than a year). To say I’m excited and nervous is an understatement. I’m a quick learner and very determined; I know once I get my footing I’ll thrive. I also know I will start off feeling dumb & that will ultimately help me push myself to my potential. Yet, I can’t help but feel nervous about going from being one of the best where I’m at now to the newest/least experienced at this new place. I want to prepare, but idk how! Any advice? Things I should know or study? Any helpful tips you learned in the ED that you wish you knew sooner? I will greatly appreciate any advice at all!! ❤️ thanks for reading.

ED to start in as a Registered Nurse? In North Jersey.

So, I’m looking at Trinitas, JFK and Overlook Summit. I considered RWJ Rahway, but I don’t think it’ll be what I’m looking for. Experiences?
I think Trinitas would give me an insane amount of experience, but is it as bad as one would think? Insane ratios? No support/techs/nothing? I hate being micromanaged and feeling like something is too corporate and I did feel that way about Overlook when I worked there so I’m scared to go back. Is the ED any different?

A little about me, I’m not a new nurse, but I don’t have ED experience. I’ve worked at surgery centers and med-surg. I think ideally I would like to one day get into RWJ New Brunswick or AHS Morristown, some sort of trauma hospital. However, I know bc of my lack of experience in the ED I won’t be able to get any of that rn. I’m looking for fast-paced, loooots of learning, adrenaline type of situations with trauma like GSWs, STEMIs, cardiac arrests, lots of codes and intubations, strokes. I want to see a lot! I’m not interested in psych but I know you can’t really avoid that.
